Headset won't boot past spinning Meta logo

Our oculus has been stuck on the spinning Meta logo for about two weeks now. We have looked up youtube videos, tried the soft reset, logged in to meta account online, and made sure it was charged. It was stuck on red, then stuck on orange 'while charging', and now it is stuck on white and the meta symbol is still stuck spinning. Where should I go from here? @

    Hey guys, if you're still running into issues on a boot up you might want to reach out to support to see if they have anything that might help. If it needs to get replaced, they can help explain some options to you as well. I'll drop the link HERE.

    Hey Doomed.2022, thanks for being proactive and trying out some things. We understand this can be frustrating as it stops anything from happening. Let's try a factory reset. Here are the steps:

    1. Turn off your headset.
    2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
    4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

    Keep us updated on your progress!

      If I do the factory reset will I lose all my games again?

    We logged into the app on our phone and dont see any of our games. We've tried to create a meta cloud account and don't see any of our games either.

      Hey Anonymous, when performing a Factory Reset it will remove your games from the headset. However, if you have not done so yet you can active the Cloud Backup system beforehand to save your data.

      Please do the following steps to check if your Cloud Backup is on:

      • Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.

      • Select Settings

      • Select System, then select Backup.

      • Select the toggle next to Cloud Backup to turn Cloud Backup on or off.

      You can also click here to see the steps and once you have done this you can freely perform the Factory Reset. Please PM us know if you have any further question, we'd be happy to answer them!

    It's way into the second half of 2023 and this stuck on Meta logo start up bug is still here.  I still frequently have this problem and some times the headset doesn't charge to 100% when plugged in as well. I have to do a Reset to the headset in order to refresh it.  I have the latest software updates. What gives Facebook / Meta???

    Same thing happen to me.  if you contact support, they will say your device is out of warranty, then offer to sell you a refurbished one.   If you are still within warranty, then you could probably get a replacement.    or else you are left like me, wondering if Meta purposely broke my software with an update.   Since one day it's working, and next day it stopped working.  Support is convinced that since factory reset didn't work and still stuck on blue screen, then the hardware is broken.  Definitely not going to upgrade quest 3 after this debacle.  This could happen to anyone at anytime.

    I am experiencing the same issue... already did a factory reset and my quest is still stuck on the meta logo... this seems to be a common problem, please help me find a solution... I don't know what to do from here since a factory reset didn't work.

    Same issue happening on my Quest 3. I already have a ticket in but looking at various boards it seems to be a reoccurring issue over a number years. Could you explain what the nature of the issue is.

    I have the same issue as above. I try the factory reset and the hard reboot. I still just get the blue meta logo spinning and fading in and out. Will just do that until the battery drains. Not sure what to do now.

    Update:

    So after numerous resets, troubleshooting, and frustration, the non-solution with ZERO actual explanation of the issue or problem was to purchase a refurbished unit, ONLY AFTER I send in my original unit, for approximately $160. It didn’t matter how many ways I asked what the actual issue was i.e. hardware, software, etc. I never got a straight answer. This bull**bleep** problem should’t still be happening years into the O2s existence and I saw someone on here saying it happens to their O3……WTF?!?! That’s absolutely insane, whether under warranty or not. Get your **bleep** together Meta. Stop screwing your customer and fix the issue already. Have some integrity. Rant over and I’m sorry I don’t have better news and that everyone who reads this is most likely having the same issue. If anyone has better news please share.

       hold the power and the volume - button until the boot menu and press boot device with the power button

    I’m on the same issue now. Before this my boundary drawing sounds were acting a bit funky also the day before. My “VRalertnotice” was not responding

      Hey there, @ThelegendaryNIMONA2024! Thanks so much for reaching out to let us know about your experience with being stuck on the Meta loading symbol. We're sure you're ready to get past this and back in the game, and we are happy to assist. 

       

      We recommend attempting a factory reset on the device. Performing a factory reset will wipe all information and data off your headset. Some of this data can be restored by enabling Cloud Backups beforehand. Once you've set up Cloud Backup and also ensured your device is fully charged, please proceed with the following directions:

       

      Factory Reset from the Meta Quest mobile app:

      • Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
      • Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
      • Tap the headset connected to your phone.
      • Tap Advanced Settings.
      • Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

      Please note that while Cloud Backup is available to all Meta Quest developers, it's ultimately up to those developers to decide whether to enable this feature for their app and what data is backed up. (If you'd like, you can find which installed apps have Cloud Backups enabled on the Cloud Backups page of your Meta account profile.)
