Highwind Interface?

TLDR:

Can use Link, however when I plug my Quest 3 in via any cable, a Device appears under Other devices called "Highwind Interface"  with "no compatible drivers available", I've been unable to find anything clear online, does anybody know what this is or the driver it needs?

Device: USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_02\7&10ba82f&2&0002

My splatter of an ignorant investigation.

In device manager I have a device called "Highwind Interface" which is only active while the Quest 3 is plugged.

If I uninstall the device it will reappear with the same error.

Ive tried installing the Oculus ADB Drivers.

Different cables and different USB slots to make sure it is definitely related to the Quest.

I've cleanly uninstalled and reinstalled the Meta Quest link and all related software/drivers.

Within OEM54.inf  I've found multiple references:

%CompositeHighwindInterface%= USB_Install, USB\VID_2833&PID_5010&MI_02

%CompositeHighwindInterface%= USB_Install, USB\VID_2833&PID_5011&MI_03

etc..

however there is

%CompositeXrspInterface%    = USB_Install, USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_00
%CompositeAdbInterface%     = USB_Install, USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_01

and In device manager I have,

Reality Labs Composite XRSP Interface

USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_00\7&10ba82f&2&0000

Reality Labs Composite ADB Interface

USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_01\7&10BA82F&2&0001

Could I just add this under the others?

%CompositeHighwindInterface%    = USB_Install, USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_02

(I'm not knowledgeable enough to know everything that is or isn't worth sharing)

Device description: Highwind Interface

Device: USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_02\7&10ba82f&2&0002

Hardware IDs

USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&REV_0510&MI_02

USB\VID_2833&PID_0186&MI_02

status: 01802400

problem code: 0000001C

problem status: C0000490

installation error E0000228

Thanks.

The Highwind driver issue is a red herring. Ignore it.

      Hey,

      Thank you for the reply,

I have done as suggested to no effect, although as I stated above I completely uninstalled all meta and quest related software and drivers, so I used Revo uninstaller to wipe all leftover files and reg entries and manually went though device manager and removed all drivers including the hidden ones related to meta then reinstalled.

As above I have used multiple cables and tried multiple USB slots with the same issue each time.

Ok i have now tried a different PC and have the same issue, so I guess as Im still within the 30 days return window ill be doing that, I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what the highwind interface was and provide some detail as to whats wrong, but replacement seems like it going to be the best option.

Thanks for the help all the same.

  • I'm having the same problem, A month ago I used my current USB 3.1 cable (USBA-C cable) and everything works perfectly, and today I just connect and want to play again, it's saying USB 3 connection recommended and in USBtreeview I got highwind interface under Meta platforms oculus quest 3 USB composite device.

Hi skouter.416825 and thanks for reaching out.

This is not the experience we want you to have so we'd love to provide some troubleshooting to help resolve this.

First, we would recommend trying different USB ports on your computer, to rule out a faulty port. You can also try using different cables, if you haven't already.

Next, please try repairing the Meta Quest Link App:

      • Download and run the Meta Quest Link app installation software
      • You will see a screen which says, "Already Installed"
      • Click the "Repair" option and confirm again on the next screen

If you're still running into the same issue, please send us a private message for further assistance:

      • Select our name to get to our profile page, or click here
      • Click "Send a Message"

Remember, you must be logged in to the community to send us a private message.

We look forward to connecting with you soon!

Honestly, I was still hoping for a reply, are we just to assume this was a hardware fault, because if this was software it's got to be worth the investigation to prevent more returns.

Not to sound harsh but If no one on the support team can answer what the Highwind Interface is that's pretting damning.

  • I don't think meta support team had ever helped anyone to solve any USB relation problem with meta quest. This is my impression form my own experience and from what i found on Internet .
