Hello everyone. I received the Meta Quest 3 headset on October 12th. Launched, updated the software. And I started playing games while connected via Oculus Link to my laptop. On October 12, 13, everything was just great. Half Life Alyx has a fantastic level of graphics, a stable frame rate, there was not a single glitch. This morning I picked up the helmet again and noticed that the image quality had become terrible. Even in the lobby menu, it's terrible. There is no clarity of the image, the effect of a ladder and ripples is especially noticeable on the lines. I launched the same Half Life ALyx, and it was a terrible soap. Worse than in Quest 2. Also, while playing Blade and Sorcery, I noticed that the frame rate dropped. Although in the settings it is worth "raising the frame rate to 120 so that where possible". Changing the settings of the frame rate, screen resolution in the Meta-application did not give results. Resetting to factory settings via the Meta application also did not give results. Resetting to factory settings by pressing the off key and adjusting the volume on the helmet then also did not give results, the image is still of poor quality. The lenses are clean, there are no stains. I attach 2 screenshots, but I can assure you that the quality in the screenshots is better than what I actually see. In fact, the reflection in the mirror and the palm tree look much worse than in the screenshots, they are very blurred and pixelated.

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING ONLY FOR VISABILITY Hey everyone! I wanted to pop by on this thread about the graphics quality of the Quest 3 devices. I completely get wanting to get a clear view of what you're seeing on your headset. I recommend reporting this issue so that our engineers can be able to look into it further. The more information from other users, the better they'll be able to determine how to fix this issue.

Meta Quest 3 has terrible graphics quality.

Are you sure the ipd wheel is still in the right position for you?
kojack posted that it sometimes turn itself when the headset is moved.
This might cause a blurry sight.

I wonder if you have accidentally applied the power save settings 🤔

Head on over to your settings menu and double check

Some Quest 3 are running on a lower Gpu clockrate (500mhz vs 599mhz)

We found this out while playing Dungeons of Eternity. When we put the Quest 3 Enhanced Visuals on, the game runs in Slowmotion..

After a Chat with the Developers abd running OVRMetrics, we found out the problem is some Quest 3 are running at a lower 500mhz (gpu).

Abd this affects not only the game, it runs at 500mhz all the time.. Quest Home/ other Games.

If you have this Problem, too, please let Meta know about it, so they can Fix it

  What's the easiest way to detuest 3 is running at 500mhz or 599mhz?
  If my Quest 3 is running at 500mhz instead of 599mhz is that a settings change or does that mean I need a new/different headset to get 599mhz?
  The Meta response above, marked as the solution, seems to me to be a smoke screen to keep people from reading further ... but I could be wrong.

  Don't think anyone mentioned passthrough in this thread, we're talking about in game graphic quality being bad.

  Why is Meta always trying to talk around the actual subject? Same was in my mails with you guys. Trying to send me to the game devs.. while it affects literally every game and the virtual home environment.. I was able to kind of resolve it with QuestGameOptimizer, but that shouldn't have to be the solution.. I never had the need for that Optimizer app, and would like the quest to run optimal on it's own.

    I have the same problems crappie graphics wish I had not invested in this item know and got a new monitor with my cash instead of this heap of over priced junk.

My Meta quest 3 arrived yesterday and as soon as i put it on, the first thing i noticed was the grainy pixel in the background of my surrounding, similar to the two images above. I thought maybe i didn't properly set it up yet but then as I've completed all the instructions, the quality of what I'm seeing in the VR headset remains the same.

  I am having the same issue, especially playing PCVR games. It is so noticeable I looked at it and said oh it’s probably just a little small issue meta-will fix it soon 5 to 6 months later still here with this pixelated screen.

I experience this as well, but with a some sort of vignette/tunnel. Within the tunnel, the graphics are sharp and clear. But outside the tunnel the graphics are blurry, as if it is not rendered. You can see in the attached images (Call of the Sea VR) that beneath the red line, everything is sharp, but above the red line everything is blurry.
I encounter this in various Quest 2 games. Meta said that all games would be sharper/clearer because of the auto-rendering on Quest 3. But I paid € 700 now for a Quest 3 what should be an upgrade of Quest 2 but all Quest 2 games look like sh*t now. It's ruining the experience for me.
I already notified Meta about it, they said they need more time to investigate and will come with a reply soon. That was 2 weeks ago.

    No I’m still waiting for a reply from Meta.
    but they did acknowledged that it’s not how it’s supposes to look like.
    Maybe if you file this issue too, they’re willing to fix it sooner?

  I have the same problem (also noticed it in "Call of the Sea" first) but I only noticed it on the 512GB version of the quest when I changed VR headsets with a friend. is there anyone here who actually got this issue resolved?

    No, I only got a reply from Meta what basically said “not our problem, developers need to upgrade their games”.
    
    which is kinda weird and a fraud in my opinion, because Meta said that all games would look better because of the auto rendering option 🤷🏼‍:female_sign:

    Hi, to be honest the issue kinda sorted itself out. All I did was update the drivers on the Adrenalin software and toy with starting Steam VR via the headset 1st versus the PC 1st. Just when I thought all was lost, I connected like 2 days later and it worked fine just as it should so weird, and I cannot tell if what I did affected the outcome? Quest link worked fine so I assume it must have been a software thing, glitch, update issue as all I know is I never really did much to resolve it.

My problem is probably the same, looking at the comments in the attached video, you can see the sharpness is very poor and it is not affected by the light because it looks exactly the same during the day, in the evening, when the room is lit and when it is dark, nothing affects this image

    As soon as it came to me, the device was turned on, logged in and updated, I saw when I turned it on that the image was not sharp, but I didn't delve into it because I thought that maybe something needed to be set, but nothing could be done, so to sum up, the problem has been there since the moment of unpacking. equipment and the first time they are turned on, and this is the case from the very beginning, not after a long gaming session.

  That video is very bad quality overall. And it's in passtrought mode. If you experience bad quality all the time then it's fault with headset and should be rma'd.
  We've had problems in games. I believe problem is just that some games are rendered at low resolution, and that foveated rendering doing it's tricks.
  Personally my Q3 looks very crisp in menu, and in most games, few are problematic like pop1.

I have quality problems to. This is the advice from Meta support! They must be kidding, right?

Hey there B.E.N.Anchorman! We understand that you are having an issue with your Quest 3 display. We totally get how this is majorly affecting your time in the World of VR! We would love to help you out. We are going to put some troubleshooting steps below on How to perform a display refresh.
Performing a display refresh:
Short press and release the power button to put the headset to sleep. The display will turn off.
Wait for awhile.
Turn the headset back on. The flickering or static should be gone.
Please let us know if this works, or if it doesn't and we need to try some other troubleshooting steps. We look forward to your reply!

Guys if you have bad quality even in meta "home" screen then headset is faulty. If quality only bad in games its because of foveated rendering. You can see top and bottom of screen pixelated, and even sides in some games. It is clear at middle, if not headset is adjusted wrong. Its how games are made, nothing to do with 128gb or 256gb versions.

  Question 1: Then why do I only see it on the Quest 3 and not on the Quest 2? That does not really seem like an upgrade...
  Question 2: Then what does Meta mean with the "auto rendering" they keep advertising with? Saying that all games should look better, even if the game is not optimalized for Quest 3? Most of the Quest 2 games look like sh*t now on the Quest 3..
  Question 3: How come I see it in Call of the Sea, Another Fisherman's Tale, The Climb 2, but not in games like Real VR Fishing and Puzzling Places? What are the differences between these games what makes their rendering type (or how do you call it) so different?

    You notice it easier with Quest 3 because its clear from edge to edge, picture in Quest 2 was very blurry, nothing to do with pixelated image in Q3. Developers can choose resolution which it renders at middle (fovehead) and everything else that is out of sight. Some games typically looks better.
    It's similar what we have in Steam Link, we can choose fovehead rendering quality, and even eye tracking for Quest Pro.
    You can ofcourse use SideQuest to manually increase resolution in Quest 3 native games.

  Not true. I have had the headset for 6 months. This appeared today in all games, it has not been there before. It was INSTANTLY noticeble in Synth Riders where you sometimes need to lean forward. It was extremmely jarring to suddenly hade most of the world and those synth rider lines all blurry and messed up.
  I have hundreds of hours of synth riders, it has never been like that before.
