Meta Quest 3 has terrible graphics quality.

Hello everyone.

I received the Meta Quest 3 headset on October 12th.
Launched, updated the software.
And I started playing games while connected via Oculus Link to my laptop.
On October 12, 13, everything was just great. Half Life Alyx has a fantastic level of graphics, a stable frame rate, there was not a single glitch.
This morning I picked up the helmet again and noticed that the image quality had become terrible. Even in the lobby menu, it's terrible.
There is no clarity of the image, the effect of a ladder and ripples is especially noticeable on the lines.
I launched the same Half Life ALyx, and it was a terrible soap. Worse than in Quest 2.
Also, while playing Blade and Sorcery, I noticed that the frame rate dropped. Although in the settings it is worth "raising the frame rate to 120 so that where possible".

Changing the settings of the frame rate, screen resolution in the Meta-application did not give results.
Resetting to factory settings via the Meta application also did not give results.
Resetting to factory settings by pressing the off key and adjusting the volume on the helmet then also did not give results, the image is still of poor quality.
The lenses are clean, there are no stains.

I attach 2 screenshots, but I can assure you that the quality in the screenshots is better than what I actually see.
In fact, the reflection in the mirror and the palm tree look much worse than in the screenshots, they are very blurred and pixelated.

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING ONLY FOR VISABILITY

Hey everyone! I wanted to pop by on this thread about the graphics quality of the Quest 3 devices. I completely get wanting to get a clear view of what you're seeing on your headset. I recommend reporting this issue so that our engineers can be able to look into it further. The more information from other users, the better they'll be able to determine how to fix this issue.

Guys I read this on Reddit;

https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/17683lp/quest_3_fixed_foveated_rendering/

Apparently, this can be fixed through manually tweaking with Sidequest. Does anyone know how this works? I read that your Quest 3 needs to be in developer mode. But then you have to create an organization. I'm not a game developer and don't have a organization. Is it legal to create a fake one to enable the Dev mode?

Edit: I created a fake organization and enabled Dev Mode. Going to try some tweaking now.

I did some tweaking and I notice already incredible progress! Call of the Sea and Another Fisherman's Tale look a lot better. You only see the pixelated graphics only when you look at the very top of your view but it's hardly noticable. Also the framerate was still great. I did notice that my headset temperature was a bit higher. If anyone can advice what should be the best settings for the best graphics for Quest 3, please let me know

This was the amazingly useful info! The difference is is just completely WOW. (disabled fovehead and upped resolution to 2nd best @ 90hz)

Finally less disappointment in the purchase!

Now just need to figure out a workaround for the Wifi 6e registering and showing as 1.2Gb/s, but Q3 never exceeds around 280, no matter config on router. All dedicated, at least meta acknowledged some bug there.

I read that with the tweaking through SideQuest, you need to change the settings each time you want to play, and also for each game that needs different settings.

In this video is explained how to bypass that with an app (Quest Game Optimizer) for USD 9,99 that you download onto your Quest 3.

It comes with default profiles with the best settings for a lot of games. I'm thinking of buying it. Has anyone tried it out?

OK being my unpatiently self, I bought the Quest Game Optimizer and works like a charm! I tried Climb 2 and it looks super crystal sharp and crisp!! Also tried Call of the Sea VR with the HD+ profile. You still see the blurryness, but less noticable. You can also edit the settings of the profile or create your own graphics-settings-profile with that game.

I am new to VR and the Quest 3 is my first device. I have a bit mixed feelings about the Quest3, overall i think it is good and for me as a VR beginner its exciting but i have concerns regarding some graphic effects i noticed in games and sometimes in the Menus as well but i dont know if its normal or not. I am kind of scared that there are good and bad copies of the quest which is something i hate because its always a nightmare to get a good copy because my unit dont has bad pixels, so im not keen to send it away and get one with bad pixels or whatever proplems.

The thing is i can see the staircase effect on the edges of many games, objects in the distance are kind of blurry and its like watching a "Fata morgana / mirage", like you see when looking far away on asphalt on a sunny day, close objects are sharp though. A good example are the VR backgrounds in the main menu, most of them look blurred in the distance or in the game premium Bowling, the actual bowling ball in your hands is sharp but the bowling pins in the distance look like a fata morgana. Then there is this edge flickering, for example in youtube video in the Meta browser. Some videos have this flickering, it has to be software issue. I can also see a bit of this staircase effect in the red boot logo. Another thing is the passtrough quality, it looks super grainy on my device. Screen capture does not really show this, in fact casting the stream of the quest to my Smartphone looks better than trough the glasses. I am just not sure if that is all normal and i am to "picky" or maybe some copies are worse and i got a bad one which would be not nice at all since it will create problems when i want to sell the device in the future. Dont get me wrong, i think the Quest 3 is good and its fun to use it, i just want to make sure that this is normal. Quest Optimizer is no solution to me because its not an official method and i dont know if it could harm the device like overheating etc. If graphics can be improved that easily then Meta has to implement it, maybe create a menu button like "Power" mode with less battery time or something like that.

Im in the same boat as you. I used a friends it was wow. This est choppy, slow motion skipping lagging, pixelated. The only thing I can think is when i first set it up i set to 120hz refresh. I unchecked but doesnt improve. My Go didnt lag so much. I hope there is a fix.

I have noticed thus also. Any fix?

There is no official fix for this problem. I received a replacement remanufactured headset with the same exact problem my original headset has and the rest of us are having.

I don't think Meta is taking the graphics bug seriously or they would've fixed it by now. My wife's headset graphics were great until the latest software update V63 and now they're just as bad as mine.

How is it that you telling people to report the issue is considered a solution to the problem that all of your well paying customers are having. That is BS. I just read through 60 comments of people having the same problems as me thinking at the end there was going to be a fix and all I get is you saying that people need to report the issue to the engineers. How do I do that because I do not trust that you are going to do it for me. You already wasted my time with this thread. I paid $700 for the 512 quest 3. I get better support from free app. Maybe They try harder because they are still trying to make $ and don't have a bunch already unlike others that I know...
