Trigger doesn't detect resting finger

Quest 3 controller no longer detects my fingers resting on the trigger. It will still detect when I pull the trigger, but not when I'm resting my hands on it. This basically removes me from being able to keep my hands in a neutral resting position for gestures/expressions.

The left controller is not having the same issues. I've changed the batteries, restarted the quest, and wiped the button down, but it is extremely finnicky and does not recognize the touch most of the time.

Is there a possible fix for this, or should I have claim warranty on it? Does the warranty require me to send it in and be controller-less during the repair/replacement period?

    Hi kaydeeplaydee,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue you're experiencing with your Quest 3 controller. Detection issues are never ideal so we'd love to provide some troubleshooting steps to help get your right controller back on track.

We're glad to know that you've already tried replacing the battery and restarting your device. As the issue is still ongoing, we would first recommend removing unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection. For example: controller and headset covers, controller attachments, etc. Also ensure the play area is suitable and free of anything that may interfere with tracking.

Next, you can try unpairing your controllers:

    • Make sure that your headset is turned on, then open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
    • On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
    • Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
    • Tap Devices.
    • Select the headset that you want to unpair controllers from.
    • Tap Headset settings, then tap Controllers.
    • Tap the controller that you want to unpair, then tap Unpair controller.

Once that's done, repair your controllers:

    • Make sure that your headset is turned on, then open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
    • On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
    • Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
    • Tap Devices.
    • Select the headset that you want to pair controllers to.
    • Tap Headset settings, then tap Controllers.
    • Tap Pair new controller.
    • Choose which controller you'd like to pair.
    • Press and hold the Meta button/ Oculus button and B button on your right controller or Menu button and Y button on your left controller until the controller LED blinks and then lights up to finalise the pairing.

  • I think you'll have to do without at least one controller. You probably won't have to return the working one too, hopefully. It might be a software thing though. Maybe try a hard reboot, or if it doesn't work, and you have the patience for it, a factory reset. Check also there's no debris stuck in there, highly unlikely but worth checking, also if you have protective covers on your controllers sometimes they can block the signal so try with it off. Though I'm sure you've done it, make sure the battery levels are high enough. And a slim possibility, remove the battery and pop it in again, even try a different battery to be sure. I see you've actually tried a few of those options ! If you can fix it rather than sending it back it will be preferable. Ohh, also...are you using v81 PTC ? That might be a reason too And good luck. Let's know how you get on. Hope you get it fixed 🤞

If it is a loose magnet, maybe add a dab of glue, if possible, so it won't come loose again.
