I have given up on it and shut off the headset waiting for them to fix it - not in the middle of an install though 🙄
I noticed too the download progressed well for about 90% of it and then it slowed down to practically nothing - not sure its actually complete when it tries to install.
Seems like a download issue they had recently where the Link software wouldn't finish.

Yes, I think that's the problem, it's not actually downloading the update correctly, looks like it installed but it doesn't. I'm still using it but just switched off automatic updates until I see a new version. Appreciate the reply.

Yeah I'm having the same thing on my Q3, and so are a lot of people. From reading all the comments we should shut off auto updates and wait for meta to fix this. As of now my headset is working fine, so I'm playing on.

Yes , shut off auto update and also the wake up to update while the device is charging. I had auto update switched off but when it was charging it woke up and tried to update. Mine is working fine too, I won't try to update until I see a new version and then I'll wait to make sure it's ok. I can understand people not trusting PTC, but it's a pity we can't trust official updates. Btw, watch out for messages here from someone pretending to be Meta Support and asking you to contact them. It's a scam, don't click on the link.

Me paso algo peor... Se descargo la última actualización y mis gafas se fueron a pantalla gris y no interactua con nada. Hice todo lo que me indicó meta hasta restablecerlas de fábrica y las gafas no responden cada ves que se inician sale una carga como de un chip con una flecha hacia abajo en su interior y cuando completa la carga se reinicia sin emitir ningún sonido ni permitir ninguna interacción y después las gafas quedan encendidas consumiendo batería por lo que se ve una pantalla gris sin interacción alguna... Aun tengo garantía del producto y meta no me da ninguna solución...

I am experiencing the same issue on my Quest 3 for the past couple of days now. Hopefully Meta will get it fixed so it will install properly.

I'm experiencing the same thing, though it says I'm on v79.1029 but it keeps re-downloading and re-installing v79.1028. I really hope they fix this because the amount of bugs and broken features is getting absolutely ridiculous!

Same issue for me.
Software update (v78.1028)
Downloading OS
Finishes download.
Indicates Restart to apply..
The Restarts begins the v78.1028 download again
Rinse / Repeat (At least 5 times in the past hour)

Canadian, Quest 3
Current version v78.1026 Build 5105226.119.520

I'm having the same update 78.1028 issues I too tried downloading and restarting at least 10 time's now and it continues to not install the new update, I'm still on 78.1027, meta doesn't seem too listen to anyone on these threads.

I have the same issue. It says that needs to be restarted all the time. After restart nothing changed. This is a bad version. Glad that i am not the only one. Already did a factory reset but also this is not helping. Please fix it meta?

Yes, I think now it's possibly affecting everyone but people with auto update on might not be noticing it so much. Thanks for the headsup. It seems it's not just a few people. I switched off auto update until I see a new version. I was thinking about doing a factory reset. Good to know that I shouldn't bother! 🙂

I have the same issue, that's ridiculous. Not only that, after 78.1027 I can't choose which profile to use when I first start it, only the main one and after choosing it the menus are either not there or up it the ceiling... Absurd

Ah really ? I didn't know that. I only have one profile on mine as my wife gets motion sickness. That must be extremely annoying. Appreciate the reply.

Er, there's a prompt to "Switch User" right there on the bottom left of your profile picture. Click it and select another profile 😉.

That's not good. =( Mine is still working, just the update won't install so I've stopped it. Try factory resetting your Q2, it might bring it back to working condition, and then disable auto updates for now. Good luck..🤞

I tried factory resetting right when it started. It didn't work and just erased my data and had the same glitch.
One time I got my headset working and disabled auto updates but it did nothing.

For me V78.1028 is stuck downloading the update. The download bar doesn't move with around 20% left.

That's interesting. Mine looks like it's downloading all the way, looks like it's installed but after restart, can see it isn't. It's probably better to do what I did, switch off auto update until they release a fixed version.

Here the same issue with download and install of v78.1028. It installs over and over again.
I'm using my Headset only from time to time. And there are always update issues when I again start using it.

Yes, there's something not right. Problems can be expected with PTC releases, which I never do as there's a strong chance of bricking your device, but updates to full releases going wrong is not acceptable.
