When using Remote Desktop, Touch Plus controllers become unresponsive.

Here is my issue in a nutshell.

I open Remote Desktop and my computer screen pops up. Great! Then my Touch Plus controllers become unresponsive.

They disappear from my view, I cannot resize or move the virtual computer screen, nor interact with Meta OS at all let alone resize or move those screens.

I understand I cannot control my computer using the Touch Plus controllers using Remote Desktop, but I can't even control the Meta OS environment either!

If I keep the "grab" button held, they appear to turn off and on (they appear and disappear quickly from my view) and that's the only way I can click anything in Meta OS or exit Remote Desktop. Very clunky and makes me feel like I missed a step and am doing something wrong. Moving or resizing screens while using Remote Desktop while holding the "grab" button doesn't really work because they turn off. It really only lets me click something and "let's go" when trying to resize or move screens...

  • Hand tracking also seems to be disabled when using Remote Desktop. And any button press temporarily "brings back" the Touch Plus controllers but they turn right back off when nothing is pressed.

You are supposed to use your physical mouse and keyboard with Remote Desktop, that is why the hands/controllers disappear (Edit: oh, I just realized you know this already).

Edit: I just tested it on my Q3 and I can still use controllers to interact with the window (move it, resize it, switch to focus mode etc) and Quest menus/apps. My controller lasers only disappear if I put the controllers down. Check your Movement Tracking options under Settings in your headset (especially hand tracking) and make sure they are all toggled on. Then power your headset off/on, and reboot your PC.

Believe me, I am aware of this. That is not my issue 😉

  • Anarkkie I've figured it out. Disconnect any game controllers from your PC and the Quest controllers should work correctly in Remote Desktop. Cheers.

This fixes it! Thank you! I was so frustrated because sometimes the controllers worked for me and other times I had the same problem described by OP. Sure enough, tonight it wasn't working and I had a DS4 connected to the pc. Disconnected it, and bingpot! Working like a charm now. Thanks again.
