Can't connect to wifi with latest PTC v2.6 Build 5222268.1570.150

Headset is unable to connect to both my 5ghz and 2.4ghz wpa2 wifi networks since it got updated to the latest 2.6 PTC. It doesn't accept the wifi passwords anymore. Disabling the encryption (running my wifi as an open hotspot) makes it connect successfully but that's not a realistic long term solution.

I always expected that eventually something will go wrong with PTC builds but a broken wifi is the worst thing that could have happened. If any of you guys are on 2.6 please share your working wifi connection details. Thanks!

The problem should be fixed now. They rolled out a patch for v2.6 and once i updated and restarted, i am able to connect to the wifi. You just need a hotspot to do it or update via tool kit.

Forgot to mention the device is a Quest 2.

Same problem here. I’ve tried everything other than factory reset. Quest 2 worked perfect then i updated a few hours ago and now it refuses to connect to wifi.

That's not good. I've only just official 2.5. I'm not the adventurous type as I'm not in a officially supported country so no warranty!

However, if you'd like to talk to a human Meta Support person directly, here is a link to some options. I hope you get it fixed soon. 🤞🤞🍀

I have the same exact issue. Earlier in the day I was using my Quest 2 normally, after taking a break and booting it up again, now I can't connect to my WIFI networks anymore but I can connect with my mobile's hotspot.  I've tried factory resetting both the Quest and my router without any improvement. Same with you the only solution I've found is completely removing the wifi password, hopefully this gets fixed soon

Perhaps forgetting your Wi-Fi connection, restarting the headset, and then reconnecting to your WIFI can solve the problem.

It doesn't seem to be a general issue. I spoke with a friend who received PTC v2.6 on his Quest 2 yesterday… his headset connects to Wi-Fi as usual.

EternalMeat  too bad 🙁

Then you can either send a bug report and wait for a fix

or

send a bug report, opt out from PTC and do a factory reset so you are back to v2.5 🤷‍♀️

Same here (Quest 2), any news about this problem?

ChrisDRyan Read the comments in the thread. There is a link there to talk to a human Meta Support person about the problem. I have heard that yuo can use a mobile hotspot to temporarily connect and you can report the bug through the bug reporting tool on the headset. I've also heard a couple of people saying when they removed the password on their WiFi modem they could connect. Not a good idea to do that but you can get back in and maybe get an update to fix it. Good luck!

Talking to a human support agent was about as much use as a chocolate teapot when I tried it.

Their response was that it must be a problem with the headset and my only option is to buy a new one, totally ignoring that it's a widespread problem with this new update.  How many unnecessary sales have they won themselves with that line of help I wonder??

I just spoke to Meta on Whatsapp . . . the short version of a long chat;  they had no fix and started talking about the warranty which is not helpful to me as I don't any info on the device as I bought it second-hand.

Just hang on. It's a widespread bug, they'll eventually realize it and fix it. If you bought it second hand you still should have the serial number.

I really hope you are right, I think they need more than a serial number, proof of purchase etc also.  I guess all we can do is sit tight and wait and hope at the moment.

I'm getting this problem now as well.  Headset refuses to connect to home wifi router, saying to check password and try again.  Connects to mobile hotspot just fine.  This is incredibly frustrating.  I even tried a factory reset, and it still won't work.

You'll all just have to wait for another software update (hopefully with a fix) to be released.

Happening to lots of people on the Quest 2 now.

Reporting here that my Quest 2 running OS 2.6 also can't connect to WiFi.

What I wonder if even when fixed, how am I supposed to get the update?

I hope the Meta engineers using Kimi could figure this out.

You can either use your phones hotspot - seems this is still working - or you can use the Meta update tool via pc.
