Cant download Meta App: SSL Error

As the title states I cant download the app. After doing some research I found the existence of the Oculus log file and I get the following error:

[Warning] [11/16/2025 4:31:12 PM] SSL certificate failed validation!
[Error] [11/16/2025 4:31:12 PM] Error fetching / parsing config.\nSystem.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. ---> System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while sending the request. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

Ive cleared my SSL cache in internet options and that didnt help. My time, date, and time zone are correct as well. Anyone have this issue and a solution for it? Its crazy to me that this has to be this complicated. Ive never once in my life been unable to download anything. Thanks for any help!

  • slight update i managed to get the app to install after using a VPN which doesnt make sense to me but whatever. However the app still requires to check in with the link server to work... so that's a thing. Man i cant wait for the steam frame to come out XD

  • Ive now gone through like two dozen steps with ChatGPT trying to solve this and nothing works. Its directed me to regedit changes, custom .json files, and much more. Nothing will get this thing to download. Except, sometimes, it downloads for a bit then stops and will not resume. It feels totally random. The error logs consistently are reporting SSL errors, Ive downloaded legacy certs, modern certs, cleared multiple kinds of caches, Ive updated my motherboards bios, Im on the latest version of windows, disabled firewall and antivirus, etc...  This is a clean install of Windows as of like two weeks ago too. Ive installed maybe 5 things total on this PC. No clue why this has to be so complicated to download nor why Meta does not provide access to a full installer but instead requires this stupid app to download an app thing everyone does these days. Everything else on my PC works flawlessly as per usual, the Quest 3 has been nothing but headache after headache everytime I decide to touch it. Buying a Quest was a huge mistake and it is my first, and will be my last, Meta HMD (or anything for that matter).

I think my IP might be blocked. It works when I switch to a different VPN.

Well stupidly this actually worked. Im in Arizona so maybe there is a server down somewhere between me and the Oculus servers? No clue but it worked on first try after connecting to a UK VPN...

OMG you are a Legend! I turned on my VPN and it installed with no issues.

      Thank you!
