Meta Quest 3 Locked State.

One day, randomly my Quest 3 randomly crashed. Under device info it says "Locked State: Locked". And I want it unlocked, I have all the credentials I need to prove that I own the headset.

How long have you had your headset and where did you buy it from? Some headsets sold on eBay or unauthorized retailers etc are stolen, and Meta can remotely blacklist them. This is unfortunate for the innocent buyer, when the headset suddenly stops working. If this is your situation, Meta won't help you and you will have to approach the seller for a refund.

Another thing that anecdotally can cause the crash is moisture damage from excessive sweating:

We cleaned some moisture and it was bought last July 1st from best buy.

EDIT: I incorrectly assumed that you meant you are locked out from being able to use your device, which I don't believe is the case.

steve_40  I'm not sure, if the locked state: "locked"  means the same as a blocked device because it's stolen.

My Quests both say locked under device info in the boot menu and they are working fine😁

Actually, i think it's about whether or not you are able to flash software to the device??

I might be completely wrong here🤪

Well in that case, Snuxy , based on what Choleni says, are you actually locked out from being able to use your device, or are you being unnecessarily paranoid? 🤔🤪

I asked CoPilot AI and this was the answer:

Yes, it is normal for your Meta Quest device info in the boot menu to say it is "locked". This indicates the bootloader is in its default, secure state, as intended by the manufacturer for consumer devices.

        The "locked" status means:

        • Security: The device is running official, verified software, which is a key part of the device's security and anti-theft system.
        • Normal Operation: A locked bootloader is the standard configuration for all retail Meta Quest headsets and should not interfere with normal use.

So there we have it. It must be a full moon tonight or something 😁.
