Meta Quest Link Update: Link Launch Issue Resolved

Hi everyone,
We recently identified an issue with Meta Quest Link unable to launch which caused users to be stuck in the app launch loading screen. We’ve now released an update that should resolve this problem.
What’s changed:

  • The main issue is fixed, and you should be able to use Meta Quest Link as expected.
  • Please note: For now, you won’t be able to see your hands in Dash. However, raycasts are visible, and you should be able to interact with games and other content as usual.

Thank you for your patience while we worked on this fix! If you continue to experience any issues, please let us know in the comments.

I´m using a Quest 3 and play with Link-cable.
The update fixed my occasionally connection issues, BUT now there is something going on with Oculus Mirror. I didn´t change any settings.
My game is running with stable 120hz and a 70% Headroom. When I open Mirror, the whole perfomance crashes down, as if Mirror suddenly takes more ressources than the actual game. It´s unplayable then.
I was streaming via Mirror and OBS with the same settings without any problems before the update.

Connecting with the usb cable still doesn't work, even after the update. I still get an infinite loading screen with the Meta logo and the 3 blinking dots below it.

Will we ever get an official post stating you're aware of and fixing the consistent and frequent freezing we've had on the link app since v76 almost a year ago, its a sick joke for those of us who bought a headset specifically for PCVR and have been unable to even use the thing for 8, going on 9 months

Well, this problem solution didn’t really work! You fixed the connection issue, but you created another one. I’m playing Half-Life: Alyx. I’ve just started it for the second time because I already completed it once. All the settings are exactly the same. The game completely falls apart!!! Especially when loading the next level. It’s a slideshow throughout the whole game,It would be great to get some info on when this will be fixed? And just to add: before this connection issue appeared — up until Saturday — everything was working perfectly

Hi Tomiwilbury,

Windows recently released a security update, and we believe it may be related to the streaming performance issues. We’re actively investigating and working to confirm the root cause. Could you please share your setup details?

  • GPU model / graphics configuration
  • Did you install the recent Microsoft Windows security update -KB5074109. Thanks!

Ran updates and link did work as mentioned without hand motions BUT the link disconnects and is very unstable.  Please advise on your coding progress as many of us bought the Oculus 3 VR ONLY for PC/Link.  Right now it only works as a great paperweight.  There are other instability issues upon disconnect as in the lobby does not appear.  ROLLBACK would be a great simple solution until Meta is ready to release a fully tested update that actually improves performance vs shutting the system down.

I have the same problem.

I believe on Monday there was a Quest 3 headset update, followed by an update of the Meta Horizon Link app, which fixed the endless loading screen issue.

On Sunday, before those updates, I was able to do a perfect, flawless flight in MSFS 2020. Performance was smooth and stable. Monday there was the connection problem which i solved with the disconnect to internet workaround. Then it worked also fine.

Since then, however, things have gone downhill since the update of the Meta Link app:

-I’m constantly getting black fragments/artifacts

-heavy loading stutters

-shaking/jittering camera

-FPS drops down to 3 FPS (before the update I was around 35 FPS)

What’s especially strange is that sometimes the sim seems to recover by itself in VR and runs perfectly smooth again for a short while — only to start stuttering badly again a few moments later.

I also have the feeling that the longer I keep testing or flying, the stutters become more frequent and more severe.

This all started after the Quest 3 and Meta Horizon Link updates.

Before that, MSFS VR was working fine for weeks on the same system and settings. Nevertheless without VR its working like a charm.

I’ve tried everything and spent a lot of time thinking about what changed since Monday. The only possible cause I can see are the recent Meta updates.

Hi aa.259790. We are experiencing similar issues in latest update in PC VR (link cable). Worked fine a couple of updates ago (Meta Horizon Link)

Hi again  @Abdallah.hilali. I investigated the performance issue after latest update a bit more, and it seems that the system hangs when putting on VR headset in game. INnHWMonitor I observe that the GPU is at 100%, 1-2 FPS. Taking on/off VR headset a couple of times sometimes fixes issue. Tested on multiple PC hardware (Lenovo Legion RTX 5090 laptop, Desktop RTX 5070 ti, Desktop RTX 4090). This was not an issue with previous version of Meta Horizon Link). Hope this helps in debugging issue...

PS: Using Meta Quest 3 w/official Meta Link cable (5m). Windows 11, latest updates & drivers installed.

During the first problem turning on and off the internet worked for me, now since yesterdays update I had more problems and clicked fix connection and it completely deleted the meta app since it had failed and now I am unable to download the app no matter what I do because it has a problem during installation.
