Rapidly & Repeatedly Connecting then Disconnecting

My Quest 3 recently became unable to maintain a connection to my PC via link cable, rapidly connecting and disconnecting until it is unplugged . I verified it is not the PC or Cable itself that is the problem, by connecting my Quest 3s via the same cable, to the same PC, and it works fine. The question is whether I have a hardware issue or not. I am in the PTC and recently received V79.1030 Build 5115411.10640.520. The problem was intermittent with previous versions since v77 I think.

If it's a problem with the build, I would expect that others may be having the same issue. If no one else is reporting the problem, then I probably have a hardware issue with the USB C port.

Also, I recently noticed that I am recent AGAIN charging to 100% and getting the green light. Since v72 ish, I was unable to charge above 75%, but that problem is gone. So they ARE doing something with the charging (USB C?) circuitry

    Guys, apparently this bug has been SOLVED today with a firmware update. Still shows v79 build 1032, it was a more than 1GB update, but just after applied my INIU cable started working again and this issue dissapeared.

    Finally, almost a month...

    Update: I have determined that the problem (for me) is a combination of the firmware AND the particular cable that I am using. The OG link cable works fine and gives USB 3.2 speeds. But for the last year, I've been using a high-speed USB cable that also has power injection. With a recent update, something must have changed the way that it handles USB C, with simultaneous power injection. Like I said above, the Quest 3s (V78 with updates turned off) works fine with the power-injected cable. I am considering exiting the PTC, (and accepting the Factory Reset that is required when one leaves) and seeing if that "fixes" the problem.

      same issue on last ptc, don't bother with factory reset, it doesn't come back, i thought my cable was defective, got a new one with 23w supply, same issue. i left ptc for nothing and can't get back in now.

        I wish I had seen your message before leaving the PTC.   You are correct that it doesn't come back.    At least I know that it's not a hardware problem with the USB port.  My next step was going to be a new cable, but I'll hold off on that.   Luckily, I have a Ethernet to USB C adapter with power injection that works just fine.   It works with VD.

    Iā€™m not a regular user of my quest 3 but as from last week I went to use it noticing it had updated to v79 and now my link cable refuses to connect, constantly reporting connection then disconnection with that constant annoying bleeping. I too use a 3rd party cable with extra charge option. Do you recommend I will have to purchase the ludicrous priced quest cable or hold out for a update to fix this issue?

    Hello,  Today for the first time in a couple months I decided to play Alien Recursion or whatever you call it pcvr version and jeez.  I played for like 10 min or less and the cable started acting up (actually was glitching from the start) but I got it to work for a while till I had a reaction where the cable got moved a bit from the usb-c connection and it disconnected.  From that point on, I can't get it to reconnect, the USB-C might be loose or something from wear n tear but.... I wonder if I'm having the same issue as you guys.  I bought this thing used.  I've seen the "water" no charge message a couple times when nothing was wet or obstructing it, and now I'm seeing this disconnected message where it says to disconnect and reconnect the cable to re-establish the link.   I'm going to hold off on buying a new cable for now and keep an eye on this thread to see if this problem can be resolved via software.

    For what it's worth, I'm now using an Ethernet adapter with power injection.   I use my OG Link cable for power.   This setup does NOT work with Meta Link (not air or cable) but it does work with Virtual Desktop and ALVR.  VD being much easier to get going.

    Same Issue I am having after no issues prior to the newest update. I have 2 different cables and both with the power injector have been acting up since I tried to start my headset today.
    I uninstalled the meta oculus app and reinstalled it, as well as Factory reset my headset twice.

    It will charge on a separate charger but I don't want to have to have a separate place to charge the headset when I have perfectly great working technology.

      I am working with Meta Store support and am pleased to report that they are at present, helping me troubleshoot the problem.   Still have not fixed yet, but working on it.

        Still a problem, Talked with Ysa of Meta Support today but due to their chat system not accepting my log files it got moved to email which means it may take longer to get a solution. It has still had the connect and disconnect issue but now my headset has problems charging, and even when it's linked isn't recognized by meta's own software. it doesn't even recognize the computer except via Airlink but it's hardwired in...this is really annoying for a firmware update.

      No, but a reply above has found a work-around to the problem that (at least for them and me) seems to allow link connection and simultaneous charging).

    Same here. I have issues with my link cable after updating to V79. The Q3 starts to connect to USB cyclic without establishing a connection .
    I uninstalled the meta oculus app and reinstalled it, as well as Factory reset my headset. The Factory reset force the update to v79, so there is no chance to rollback to V78. šŸ˜“

    I am having similar problems with a power injecting cord. After a minute or two the connection stabilizes but only if the cord is unpowered. Then I can start a game through quest link and only at that point can I plug in the power injection and have it work.

    Same here, I dont know why dont they fix this big issue since its been so long, or at least let us roll back the update...

      I've communicated with the "first level" of Meta Store support 5 times, doing all the stuff on their checklist (Uninstall, reinstall, reset, reset again, send logs, reset, send logs again...).   I have specifically request 3 times that I want them to help me revert to an old version pre V78 and they have completely ignored that request.    Most recent communication last week was that they were sending my problem to a higher level of technical support.   Since then, nothing.
