Game Downloads keep cancelling themselves on Quest 3

hi im having an issue when trying to download asgards wrath 2, im on q3, every time i try to download the game, the download stops and the asgards wrath icon goes back to install, i normally get between 100-600mb when it does this, the highest download i have got to is 18gb, i have restarted the quest and done a factory reset, there is plenty of space and i have tried different wifi networks. i can download and install other games just not this 1.

Hey everyone! I know this is not the experience you should all be having, and I know this is not the answer you're all looking for. However, I can assure you engineers are looking into this proactively. Once I know an update I will make sure everyone here knows.

We are all mad here.

Well unfortunately I returned mine for a refund. I didn’t have the time to wait around for the engineers to come up with a fix. My return window was rapidly closing. So I’m done

Am I the only one here feeling a bit offended by what the support calls keeping users in the loop and providing solutions ?

Not at all, I'm feeling exactly the same and I am one of the lucky few that has been able to use a VPN temporarily.

If I couldn't or if I didn't have access then I would be going absolutely crazy just about now.

I think I'm going to try contacting some of the big VR YouTube creators to see if they will shine a light on this because it feels very much like someone is trying to brush this under the carpet.

I think that's the only way. If it ever got on Zuck's radar I'm sure it would be fixed same day.

AliceinVRworld Can we have some more in depth information on the status of this issue?

  1. How many engineers have been working on this and for how long?
  2. Have they managed to reproduce using 4G/5G?
  3. What has been tried and failed?
  4. Are there any solutions on the horizon (with timescales)?

Or even if the actual answer is "We haven't got to it yet as it's not priority."

Surely customers are entitled to this information? Especially people who have gone past the returns window so have essentially paid $500 for a product that doesn't work.

Haven't heard much myself, and I've been all over this over Christmas. Spent just over £50 on a vpn which applied to my phone and used as a hotspot and it managed to download climb 2 which is a fairly small file. It hasn't managed to do anymore games I've already bought and paid for. My daughters boyfriend took it to his house with a wired fibre connection managed to install medal of honour which works fine back at my place. He also installed peaky blinders which requires an Internet connection and that doesn't work at my house. I've got a very reliable 5g connection with a huawei pro 2 router that runs 2 gaming pc s but can't manage this q3??

I've now had to order a fibre wired connection at great cost to hopefully get a solution.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with it, although it sounds like you've thrown more money at the problem than may be required - quite a few VPNs offer free trials and are constantly offering large discounts or big amounts of cashback (NordVPN currently have 64% off their 2yr plan, plus 90% cashback on Topcashback, so works out at £0.67/mth). Beyond that, some have free plans you can use if you don't need some of the extra features (e.g. Proton VPN), so would be fine to use on a temporary basis.

I wouldn't be rushing to install a fibre connection unless you have other reasons to switch away from 5G.

Just going to make a note of this.....it is now over 2 weeks since we first reported this.

Over 2 weeks since a lot of people have been unable to download a single game to their brand new headset.

Can Meta not just roll back whatever update they pushed out in the week that Asgard's Wrath 2 and Quest V60 were both released?

you would think so, maybe the changes they made for xbox cloud gaming is causing the issue, they wont want to take that away. its been over a week since i emailed in a debug report. surly that would tell them whats happening. its not just on this forum iv seen people having this issue, iv seen it on twitter and facebook. iv only seen 1 official post about this issue on twitter.

I don't send bug reports to Meta anymore. I've sent them before for multiple issues and never once received a reasonable reply. 'Send a bug report' seems to be the response when they want to shut down an issue.

Building visibility on social media is probably a better way to go.

I upgraded my router to WIFI6, still no dice, but this time i managed to download 26gb before fail. I'm on broadband, not mobile internet. Since the return windows is extended to the end of January i'll wait, but if it's not resolved then i'm returning it.

Same. I just checked and mine is end of Jan too. I might get a PSVR2 instead.

I bought a 2nd Q3 for my family, but thinking I'll probably just return it as having to download everything on VPN is frustratingly slow.

I bought a Quest 2 as a Christmas gift for my son and I can't get anything over 1GB to download. Everything gets to about 500mb and just stops and asks to download again. I've tried all the suggestions in this thread.

At this point, am I better off just returning this and buying a PSVR?

Have you tried sideloading a VPN, if so which one? What ISP are you with?

The problem I have with this Quest is ppl shouldn’t have to be a network engineer in order to get the **bleep** thing to download like it’s suppose to do. I returned my Quest 3.. won’t buy another one

No I don't have a VPN. And honestly, I'd rather not go through all those steps every time he wants to play something. Taking it back to the store today and requested a refund on the purchased games.

Decided to pack mine up tomorrow and return it too.

OK, After a bunch of tries (with current OS), and having the download stop at various times, I downloaded AW2 using 4G over wifi. I just set everything to 4hrs in power menu so it stayed completely awake. Also had it charging the entire time. It downloaded with no problem at all. Other apps are also downloading now.

If I take my headset off the VPN connection, I can't get anything to download and I don't take the headset off, I watch as it gets to a certain point.....retries a few times, then eventually fails / cancels itself.

The headset never goes to sleep because I have it on and I watch it fail every time.

Put it back onto VPN and all downloads work perfectly, headset can be sat unattended for hours and everything downloads consistently.

SideQuest is asking me which folder to transfer the proton vpn apk into on the headset: what do I choose? How do I then start the apk from the headset?

MetaStoreHelp I returned my headset today due to lack of support over the 4G/5G downloading issue for 3 weeks.

Read back through this thread for more details rather than asking people again for the same information.

I'm about to return mine too, it sucks cuz I like the quest 3 for pcvr but I can have my equipment not working and just waiting and waiting for someone to patch it. I wanna play AW2 lol

It's not just AW2 by the way. It was anything over around 300MB for me, including updates to things like the built in browser.
