Game Downloads keep cancelling themselves on Quest 3

hi im having an issue when trying to download asgards wrath 2, im on q3, every time i try to download the game, the download stops and the asgards wrath icon goes back to install, i normally get between 100-600mb when it does this, the highest download i have got to is 18gb, i have restarted the quest and done a factory reset, there is plenty of space and i have tried different wifi networks. i can download and install other games just not this 1.

Having the same issue. Sounds like a lot of people are. Someone mentioned they think it's because the game was offered as part of the MQ3 purchase and now everyone is trying to download at once. Idk Sounds like it could be that, or an update. I hope they resolve it soon. Nobody seems to have a fix. Super frustrating

are you on mobile internet? a lot of us with this issue seem to be on 4g/5g hubs? and is it all downloads or just asgards wrath?

No, just wifi, and only asgards wrath 2. It finally started downloading. Got to 18gb before stopping. I think maybe bc the battery died. I tried to get it plugged in, but...oops.

i have sent a message back to meta, telling them it seems to be people on mobile internet and that a vpn seems to be a work around. maybe it has something to do with new network protocols due to xbox cloud gaming

Fantastic stuff, hopefully they get this fixed asap.
A lot of people probably won't see this thread or even have access to VPN so they need to fix this quickly. 😉

I’ve tried to download a game but it randomly stops the download process. The game is Asgard 2 and it gets up to about 20GB and randomly stops downloading. I have tried to start the download process several times and it starts back from 0MB again. It’s getting to the point where I feel like it’s just a gamble to see how far the download will go and then it just restarts again.

Hi AliceinVRworld so just to confirm, this is the information we gathered and also a very temporary solution that some people may be able to use in the short term.

Software version on all headsets seems to be V60.
All games and apps, except possibly Meta's built-in apps, have the issue where they won't complete download.

Troubleshooting.....we determined that all of us having this issue are on either 4G or 5G home internet connections.
A temporary solution I found yesterday was to jump onto a VPN connection, which indeed gets around this issue BUT....most people won't have access to VPN for this purpose.
The Quest itself doesn't have VPN built in and most of the 4G and 5G routers don't either.
My solution was possible because I have a 2nd router plugged into my Three 5G router and this 2nd router lets me setup VPN.
Obviously VPN is also slower so I don't want to stay on this connection just because the Quest won't work without it.

I had a thought it will be connected... therefore it is not only Asgard's having this downloading issue.. is all games.. Gotcha! Thank you very much! This is very helpful! Will provide this information to our team!

I sideloaded the airvpn app directly on my quest 3 and sadly it didn't work. After 16 GB of data it just canceled the download by itself and reset back to zero again. I'm using 4G as my internet connection.

So either my VPN program of choice isn't the right one to fix the issue or using a VPN doesn't work for everyone.

Hi tim.engler.75 unfortunately I haven't tried sideloading any of the VPN apps myself, I set my VPN up on the 2nd router that I have plugged into my Three 5G router, I don't suppose you have a similar solution that you could try?

Also, even though we have proven that VPN can work around this issue, it certainly isn't a solution and this problem is something that Meta have just introduced in update V60, their server side comms....or a combination of both, because before last week my Quest 3, Quest 2 and before that my Quest 1, were all working perfectly.

This is something new that they (Meta) need to fix asap, there is no community solution to this, it isn't user error etc.

Hi Evolvic , I don't have a toutet and only use my phone and 4g for internet. I'm not able to make the phone a true vpn without rooting it, or I could try and turn my linux pc into a router but I'd rather not mess around with all of that.

I plan to go to Starbucks in a couple of days and embarrass myself putting on the headset and trying there. They have 10MB per second speeds so hopefully that will work.

When I tried to download the game I noticed odd things shortly after.
The speed was very inconsistent and at times the download fully stopped.
I reached between 400mb and about 3GB a few times but hen I picked the headset up to check on the progress the download was dead.

I don't mind a bad connection here and there but this ?
Tried to download some demo and same issue, dead slow and dropping out.
But everything else on my network worked just fine and fast when I tried.
What I simply fail to understand is why a download can't be continued, especially for such a huge download.
Clearly a resume option is not that hard to implement....

It took me two full days to finally download the game and while at it I wasted about 150GB of data for no reason.....
Not to mention that trying to anything with the headset while downloading resulted in even more failed download attempts....
And how exactly is one supposed to do a backup of this ????
Over 30GB is not for the faint of heart considering upload rates are usually much slower than download rates.
But why would Meta allow anyone to do LOCAL backups of their headset like they can do for ll other Android devices out there.....

Hi DownunderGrumpy do you mind me asking, are you also on either 4G or 5G broadband?

Same here. Seems a waste of money buying the Quest 3 ready for Christmas now. I can't download Asgard's Wrath 2 and also can't download most updates since v60.

Eg. Trying to download the Bigscreen Beta update gets to around 675mb of 679mb, flickers a few times then quits. Tried over 10 times.

I'm using 5G on the Three network.

This is still an issue for me as well.

It will download things with a VPN active, but that drops my download speed from 300mbs to about 40mbs, so it takes much longer to install anything.

Hey everyone! This thread does have a post marked as a solution, however, is for visibility on the post I made for any troubleshooting or extra steps for everyone having this issue. Our team is looking into this currently. But my post will get lost in the thread and I want everyone to be able to see it. Just because when I have an update I would be able to edit that post. Thank you for your feedback and responses!

Please do keep looking into it. I've received a brand new Q3 512 today and I am having the same issue downloading. Yes, am on a 4g broadband.

Same problems here. Can’t download anything since V60. AW2 will attempt to download for hours and then reset to “install”. I tried to reset the app data, but AW2 never shows up, so there’s nothing to reset. Also tried it tethered to my mobile phone hotspot. Download speed seemed quicker but freezes up every time around 110MB. Been trying to get it to work for days. No luck.
