Quest 3 Controllers are not aligned in game?

  • I’ve noticed that in a lot of games, (banter, bigscreen, pavlov, breachers) the hands don’t line up with where my controllers are pointing, instead they point outwards. This is not an issue with the quests menu ui, they line up fine when im navigating quest menus. It is in game where this appears.

NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING FOR VISABILITY

Hey guys! I wanted to let you know that I've been talking with our engineers for a while about this issue. They recommend that you reach out to support so you can see what replacement options might be available for you. I know this is not the ideal solution you were hoping for, but this may be able to help with re-aligning the controllers for your Quest 3's. If you follow this link, then follow the steps that best describe this issue, and you'll be able to send an email, chat, or WhatsApp message to support.

I'm seeing the same issue with a brand new Quest 3. I've been using a Rift S for the past 4 years, and have used a friends Quest 2, and the controllers for both of these headsets aim where you point, but as others have stated for some reason the Quest 3 controllers are pointing outwards.

This is a dealbreaker for me, and if I'm unable to find a resolution to it I will be returning the hardware as it's not fit for purpose, which is very disappointing as otherwise I'm quite happy with the Quest 3.

Can we please get a response at the very least acknowledging that this is an issue?

For others who are experiencing the issue, please vote on the 'idea' of providing the ability to tune the controllers that can be found at https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Ideas/User-axis-tuning-for-controllers/idi-p/1102135

What an unbelievably disappointing response. This highlights that the support team simply does not understand the issue and does not have any motivation to fix it.

It's not a few of us that have a defective product, it is a design flaw that affects every single Quest 3 user. The solution of adding a pointer calibration tool solves this issue for every user, and opens up accessiblity of the device. The Pico 4, and many of your competitors have a calibration tool because they understand the necessity.

Its so stupid right.? I have tried 2 headsets and they are exactly the same  I dont have access to any more. I dont know why these guys dont just look at their hands or look at the videos posted.

If they want to send me a replacement unit free of charge and i keep both then I'll test and compare but as you say otherwise it is a pain in my ass for no reason. They built it wrong and apparently people generally don't notice or don't care. It's not ok. It's really annoying.

Agreed, especially playing Mercenary level in Onward where you start off with only a pistol and no other weapon. You constantly need to adjust pistol to point inwards, or shoot and adjust as firing (not mention the original issues off rifle alignment with gun stocks).

This is a joke, right? You are not really telling us to get our hardwarev replaced although there is no hardware issue? Will I get a replacement to a brand new device for free?

Tell us the truth here, visible for all, no "contact the customer service to get more info" bull**bleep**.

I came across this thread last year when I was having the same issues as OP - I just assumed it was because my Q2 stock wouldn't work with a Q3, so I waited for Q3 stocks to become more readily available and cheaper, fast forward 6 months and I've just recieved my new Q3 stock, guess what? Same exact issue, so I come back here and I see this thread again, but this time there is 10 pages of people with the exact same issue, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Disappointed with the official responses on this thread, here is a clear as day side to side image of what the issue is, same exact stock, different controllers, sort it out meta.

Great example.  I have given up on Meta fixing these issues.  I haven't touched my Q3 since December, and it just depresses me to look at it.  Seems like it would be such an easy fix to make thier customers happy.  Even a workaround until it was resolved permanently.  Even a response that isn't auto generated.  Can't seem to even get that.  There might be a disconnect between these forums and engineering and they either aren't hearing about the issue, or they don't care.  I believe it's the latter.

I submitted a bug report with photos as requested.

Its really disheartening though. I have received replies from multiple different CS agents via email and they are all different. Something like this:

1. What seems to be the problem?

2. I have reviewed the problem lets start the process to get a replacement headset

3. what seems to be the problem?

4. Maybe the next update will fix it randomly!

5. The headset is functional, no replacement is available.

6. what seems to be the problem?

7. Wait for the next update, maybe that will work

Yeah, I do not know how or why meta, oculus, has not discovered this on their own and fixed it. It has to be affecting headset sales and game sales. I know quite a few people who returned their quest 3s because of exactly this, and have seen many more talk about doing so on forums. They are ruining the next generation of vr headsets. The quest 3. People like their shooters. It’s about half the games player bases out there. Or more. The day they phase out the quest 2, they are going to lose a large part of the game player bases, and it will cost them a lot of money when games start dying because of it. They need to fix this now. Multibillion dollar company, with a lot invested in this. It is in their best interest to get this done. Here is just one of many thousands of social media posters about exactly this.  https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/17thlhl/quest_3_handcontroller_alignment_is_off/

Maybe we should start pushing this issue to tech influencers who then will address this, they have a large audience.

I still can not believe that meta is not able to fix this issue or does not care at all.

If they are not able to solve existing huge issues this will be my last meta product.

I also adviced friends not to buy the vr headset before the issue is resolved.

Fix this bug. It has been too long.

At least post a reply that you are actually doing something about it.

Obviously they give a f.... about happy customers. Not the best idea for a niche market product where mouth to mouth propaganda  counts a lot.

Testing beta Contractors showdown, and the pointers are off on this ‘brand new’ game.

Maybe if we contact the devs of the new contractors game they may have some contact at Meta to get it heard?
