Referred App keeps showing Invalid Link

I'm currently having a problem on any app referral links. It keeps showing me an Invalid Link page regardless of who send me a referral link. I've already tried unlinking my Meta account out of my Facebook account and have tried using private/incognito browser to accept the referral link. Unfortunately, they still gives me Invalid Link page.

Hello everyone,

I observed that fellow moderator ShiroTenko has responded to a few of you already. However, I wanted to create this post and designate it as a solution to ensure that everyone is aware of the information provided by the engineers. While I understand that this is not a solution, it is the best way to guarantee that all users can easily view the post.

The engineers are evaluating changes to the app referrals program. As a result, some randomly selected groups of users may periodically not be able to access app referrals.

These user groups change frequently, and if an offer is not currently available to you that is available to others, this means that offer is not being given to your group at this time. Please keep an eye out for similar options in your group in the future.

Thank you again to everyone who has reported your experiences during these changes. Your feedback is always important to us.

Been trying to use a dungeons of eternity referral for like a week now with no luck. It's always invalid or just opens app on my phone to the store homepage. Whats the deal.. why not generate a one time use code to privately send or something

I've not heard anything from support in over 2 weeks, last I heard was that the engineers were looking into it...

Hi, my friend has send me a few game Referral links for 25% off but every time I click the link it says your friend has recommended the following game instead of a 25% discount. It seems it doesnt work. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

Hi, mmdyan! We love to hear that you and friends want to share Meta apps in the community. For success, reference how App Referrals on Meta Quest work first and then review the programs rules below:

Starting March 11, 2024, each app referral code can only be redeemed up to three times.
Users can only send a referral for the apps they already own.
Apps need to be of a minimum price of $10 USD or the local equivalent to qualify for referrals.
Senders will be able to redeem the store credit 14 days after their friend buys the app using their referral.
The person receiving the referral will have 7 days to purchase the App. If they choose not to buy the App immediately, they can go back to the App in the Meta Quest Store within 7 days and the Discount will be automatically applied.
Users can earn a maximum of $599 in store credits per year from the referral programs. This limit applies to rewards earned through both the Meta Quest Referral Program and App referrals combined.
Senders will not be eligible to receive the Credit if the referred App is refunded within 14 days of sending the referral to the Friend.
Add-ons, extensions, and in-app purchases are not eligible to the app referral program.
Apps pertaining to the Meta Quest+ catalog are not eligible to the app referral program.
Newly released apps may not be eligible for the App Referral program

Note: App referrals cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion unless otherwise expressly stated in the terms of an offer. The app referral discount cannot be applied to an app that is currently discounted, regardless of which discount is better. Are all parties in supported countries/regions and the recipient attempts purchase within 7 days?

Extremely frustrating. I have my headset since yesterday and wanted to buy a bunch of discounted games to kick off my VR experience but I also keep getting the invalid link error. I hope this can be fixed ASAP 😕

i get invalid link too. not worked a single time since i have the quest2. my account is quite old, i think its from Rift CV1 days, how old are your accounts?

Good to know, I have quest 2 for 3 weeks.. I thought it was because my old oculus account. I sign in via email option...

Strange think is I could refer some in that time for the 5€ referral credit... So it has to work for others?

I try fresh browser and incognito, as soon as I log in , invalid link ...

I'm pretty sure it is just broken right now. I have had multiple people verify that links are showing invalid. You can sign out, and then get the "X Recommends Xgame" page, but clicking it will lead to an invalid link page after signing in. People with quest 2, old/new accounts have all said it isn't working atm. Hoping this isn't their way of sunsetting the 25% off coupons because that was a huge incentive to get games that friends want to play together. It's been down almost a month now. It's obviously not a super high priority for them.

I'm not exactly sure when my account was created, but I did have a quest 1 back in the day. Back when they forced you to sign in with facebook (Couldn't stand that) and glad they removed that and now I just have a meta account. . But again, I don't think it has anything to do with these parameters. I think the entire system is just not working at the moment.

Having the same issue. We are in the US, have tried clearing cache and fresh unused referral codes. Am interested in buying some new things - is there some other way to help us with a work around?

Not that I know of. Ive tried a myriad of different things and it just doesn't work. I can confirm it works for some because I saw someone post their app referrals reward from someone using it and others said the discount showed in their cart. There is some issue happening for certain accounts that's causing them to become invalid. Which is wild because I used one not even 2 months ago to buy ghosts of Tabor.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of an A/B test Meta is running with us being assigned to the test group. They could be trying to determine how app purchase rates and revenue are influenced by having access to these promo codes.

It would explain why we suddenly can't access promo codes while others still can and why support isn't in a hurry to find a solution.
