Question

Add optional "IGNORE" feature to the forums.

There's a lot of noise
on these forums and it has caused my right index finger to grow unnaturally
large and muscular from all the exercise it gets scrolling past posts with
questionable value in otherwise interesting threads, usually attributable to
the same individuals.  It's like an itch that won't quit.  Therefore, I think it would be nice to have an "IGNORE"
feature available tied to user accounts.

I never snubbed Valve to sell out to FB.
    I never stopped supporting DK2.
I never closed OC to block Vive.
I never released a HMD without tracked Controllers.
I never insisted on seated games is best for VR.
Wow I could go on but won't.

Oh but I think we should go on if we're going to do a full complete accurate list...

    And of course, my favorite,

revive. First I'd have to re-install Oculus Home which i don't want to
    do for privacy reasons. "

    So @jayhawk's statement is correct:
Ya because hanging out in forums that represent a product one of them doesn't like has nothing to do with it......

But hey at least now we got that Ignore feature.

Wait a sec. Based on just 13 people in favour of having an ignore feature you went with it. Hmmm that's hardly representing the community here. Seems more like pandering to a vocal minority.

Umm, only 8 people voted against it, so aren't those in favour the vocal majority? :)

    Pedantic much?

I think you are fully aware of what I mean. There are far more forum users than the 20 odd who bothered to cast a vote in the poll posted here.  I guess the majority of users simply do not care or just didn't vote.  I think if you cast your minds back to the hive of activity there was with regards to "should there be a separate vive forum".  Lots of people wanted that but Cyber didn't pander to the demands of the many and just let it be. Interesting then that a few remarks on a feature most people couldn't give a toss monkeys about gets the green light - especially when numerous people (including moderators of other forums) remark on how it's not such a great idea in practice.

    SMH.

Shouldn't your angst be directed at the people who didn't vote for the side you supported?  The majority is the side that cares enough to be counted.

Besides, this is OPT-IN.  More individual freedoms for the win.

If it was an none biased poll with a proper selection of answers then you might have got a better response.
I blame the creator of the poll for the lack of engagement.
This is my forum signature. There are many others like it, but this is mine.

Like @elboffor above, I didn't vote due to the silly way the poll was worded. I posted to express my opinion about an Ignore feature (I don't care for it), but I guess that's not reflected in the poll results.

While it was a real idea presented, it was done with humor, because who wants to take a boring poll?  (Admittedly, I'm not a comic and humor is highly subjective.)

So, as I mentioned, this is an optional feature. If you don't like the idea of ignoring people, simply don't ignore anyone and the forum (for you) is exactly the same as before.

The impression I get is that the people against the feature are more afraid of being ignored themselves. If you are consistently posting unpopular or controversial comments, to the point that another member would ignore you, maybe consider shaping up your act a bit so people don't ignore you.

Though the poll did bring this to my attention, it's something that has often been requested by members in random threads and also in private messages I received. So I feel a good amount of people do actually want the feature. But I'll keep an eye on it and see how things go. Thanks.

I have to think that curiosity would get the better of most posters, and they would read the ignored post anyway, just to see what was said about them.

In my experience that is 100% correct. I have literally had someone on another forum (years ago) who hated me... remove me from his Ignore list because he hated trying to follow conversations. I remember him saying something like, "I hate everything about you, but nobody else is adding you to their Ignore list which makes following these conversations ridiculous."

He was tired of having to click that extra button to reveal my posts in order to understand wtf was being said. And I would often add a line or two about that person in some posts, just to help fuel their curiosity.

    True story.

They really need to make coders work in the office and clock in.  No wonder I can never get IT to fix anything on time.  They're chatting on forums all day.
