Question

Aliens - Fact Or Fiction..?

Well we've had a time travel thread so I thought we should have an aliens thread too.

I believe that aliens have visited and are visiting our planet. Now I don't think that there are aliens that are living here and impersonating humans, but I certainly believe that at least SOME of these UFOs captured on film and seen by people are alien spacecraft.

How am I reasoning this? Pretty simple. There have simply been too many technological leaps since the 50s to make it not being true. Just have a think about it:

  1. Integrated circuits and microchips.
  2. Credit cards and bank cards.
  3. Cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays.
  4. Kevlar
  5. Lasers
  6. Stealth bombers
  7. The Oculus Rift lol
  8. Velcro.
  9. Quantum Computers.
And then have a look back through time and you have the Pyramids, Mayan astronomy and cities, Stonehenge, the Inca's Machu Picchu and Teotihuacán in Mexico.

A great deal of these UFO sightings are around air bases so a good percentage of them can be put down to experimental aircraft, but ALL of them?

The truth is out there. Trust no one.

Another good (and popular) video on the subject. I'm a fan of The Great Filter. Going by what I said in the beginning of this thread, obviously I'm of the mind that we are the only species to have made it beyond the Great Filter (or the closest to it).

    Pah! Filter Schmilter! :o

There's over 400 billion star systems in the Milky Way alone before you even start to think about other galaxies in the universe. There's aliens out there and they're visiting our planet.

I'm hoping that Trump wins a second term in 2020 because then, according to Noah at least, we'll only have 8 years to wait before the rest of the world knows THE TRUTH. B)

Faster than light travel is coming soon(ish). It takes us humans time to reverse engineer this alien tech. B)

Noah the time traveller has said that aliens will be revealed to the world in 2028 if I'm remembering correctly but he also said that Trump is getting re-elected in 2020 so I'm not taking that as gospel lmfao :D :D :D

I also forgot to add Velcro and Quantum Computers to that list, I'll edit it now.

Wow, this thread took an unexpected turn.

    Regarding "lightspeed":

However, I shall also leave this link to a video I took from October 2013 and accompanying write up:

    Regarding paranormal experiences

One that stands out to me, pretty much the only time I’ve ever seen anything like it, happened in late October 2013. The sun had gone down but it was still early evening, around 8 I guess? I was in the kitchen of my significant other’s mother’s house doing dishes, she is in the front yard having a smoke, and I hear her call out to me “Jacob, come quick, there’s aliens!”

The urgency in her voice causes me to stop what I am doing and rush outside, expecting to see, well, nothing…

What I saw were two mushroom-shaped lights; they appeared to be maybe a hundred meters in the sky and were orange and red. They were not large: maybe a meter across each. The way they moved was very strange: they appeared to be slowly rotating around a common focal point while dancing apart and darting back together in perfect synchronicity. They gained altitude while a faint hiss was audible, slowly drifting up and over and away from her house.

My first thought was ‘firework’, but it wasn’t like any firework I had ever seen. It was likely some type of aircraft, but the lack of noise except for that faint but clearly audible hissing sound was really weird. The night was relatively clear, no wind, and while they were closer they initially appeared to have a clear structure.

I gawked for maybe four seconds then ran inside to get my phone so I could record. By the time I was back outside they had receded a considerable distance and the camera only picks up a faint dot. Our reactions are priceless, though.

I had never seen anything quite that dramatically out of the ordinary before, or since. The most reasonable explanations are a firework, some type of aircraft, or a celestial phenomenon (illusion) combined with an unrelated noise. However, whenever someone brings up the topic of ‘paranormal’, that instance stands out to me.

    Lights in the sky.

It was most likely a quad copter.  They weren't quite as widespread in 2013, and I mean... what else could it have been?

As for my personal belief, alien life exists but we haven't yet made contact.  I'd wager in 10 years we'll have strong evidence of chemical signatures of life on extra solar planets.

It was aliens. You know it, I know it, we all know it.

Love stuff about space and time and still can't get my head around some of the concepts.

For example, time slows down as we get near the speed of light and from the point of view of the traveller, stops if you're at the speed of light... so from the point of view of the light particle, it's travelling at infinite speed and takes zero time to get to its destination. We as the observer perceive it to be a finite speed.

Also, the passage of time becomes faster as you get nearer a massive object... becoming infinitely fast at the location of an infinitely dense object, like a black hole. So does that mean that travelling towards a black hole, would you perceive it as getting closer, if time is speeding up for you compared with those further away? or would the apparent speed that you're travelling towards the centre be cancelled out by the increase in the density of time? so that it would seem like it was always the same distance away?

And what does that mean for an infinitely dense universe, such as at the beginning? does that mean the density of time was infinite then... and does that mean that there never was a beginning?

I asked my physics teacher that at school and he told me to shut up cos we're learning Planck's law.

Out of curiosity, did you start this thread for serious conversation, or just to be silly? We already addressed the argument about the numbers, and plenty of information is being provided about what those numbers mean. But you just keep going in circles. What was the point of this thread if all you're going to do is say, "pah!" ?

The argument "400 billion star systems" doesn't automatically equate to a conclusion that an Alien species ahead of Humans on Earth exists; and it certainly doesn't automatically equate to a situation where they managed to visit Earth.

Probability is NOT on your side in this debate. Probability works against you. But you would have to acknowledge known science for a second instead of just typing silly one-liners lol

    And just to be clear,

400 billion star systems literally equates to "over 400 billion" ways that the Universe can prevent life on other planets. If someone wants to rely on the Probability argument on its own (without any further thinking), then the only mathematically sound conclusion is that we are in fact alone in the Universe.

To prove an advanced alien species, we would have to go beyond mere Probability; which no one has done in this discussion.
