Question

Aliens - Fact Or Fiction..?

Well we've had a time travel thread so I thought we should have an aliens thread too.

I believe that aliens have visited and are visiting our planet. Now I don't think that there are aliens that are living here and impersonating humans, but I certainly believe that at least SOME of these UFOs captured on film and seen by people are alien spacecraft.

How am I reasoning this? Pretty simple. There have simply been too many technological leaps since the 50s to make it not being true. Just have a think about it:

  1. Integrated circuits and microchips.
  2. Credit cards and bank cards.
  3. Cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays.
  4. Kevlar
  5. Lasers
  6. Stealth bombers
  7. The Oculus Rift lol
  8. Velcro.
  9. Quantum Computers.
And then have a look back through time and you have the Pyramids, Mayan astronomy and cities, Stonehenge, the Inca's Machu Picchu and Teotihuacán in Mexico.

A great deal of these UFO sightings are around air bases so a good percentage of them can be put down to experimental aircraft, but ALL of them?

The truth is out there. Trust no one.

Science is not always right though.  You’ve got to give a nod to the other side as well sometimes....as there is always a 50/50 chance that everything that “scientists” say is completely wrong.  There are many times when science has been dead wrong on many things. The worm they found as an “impossible” life form here on Earth is a good example.

Just saying to try to keep an open mind about it. No disrespect meant. This goes for EVERYONE.

Here's a good TED Talk on the issue:

My favorite part about this analysis is that we can say with certainty that we have no idea if "over 400 billion star systems" is a big number. We don't even know if 1-trillion is a big number. Just because it sounds big to our human brain doesn't mean that it is big enough in the Cosmos to warrant human-like existence on multiple planets.

    A few other fun tidbits,

When we say that there are "over 400 billion star systems," we have to ask ourselves: How do we know that? Well, we know it because scientists across the globe have observed this for years. Those same scientists and their observations have also confirmed 0% evidence of any sort of Intelligent and Advanced Life Form. There are no alien structures flying around space. There is zero activity out there being generated by some advanced life form. This is not a guess, this is the result of long-term and direct observation. We have an official Institute for this:

So if we are going to believe Science when it tells us that there are 400 billion star systems, then we can't cherry-pick what parts of that science to believe.

There is a logical fallacy known as "Circular Argument (petitio principii)," which takes place when an argument is just repeating what was already assumed at the beginning; it does not arrive at any new conclusion.

Example: Abstract art isn't even art. Those pictures and sculptures don't represent anything, and that's how you know its not even art.

That is a fallacy because Abstract art, by definition, doesn't represent anything (because it's abstract) so the argument simply repeats what it said at the beginning in order to arrive at a false conclusion.

    Another fun example:
    • If the Oculus Rift has exclusive software titles, then will the Oculus Rift fail as a Product?
    • Answer: Yes
    • Reasoning: It will fail because having exclusive software titles excludes non-Rift owners, and that's how a product fails.
In this thread, we should try to avoid doing the same thing:
    • In a Universe with billions of star systems, is there Alien life forms that are advanced beyond Humans on Earth whom have visited us?
    • Answer: Yes
    • Reasoning: Of course they exist and have visited us, because there are billions of star systems, and the chances are certain that they exist and visited us.

Well said, buddy! I agree that Science has definitely been wrong before (look at poor ex-Planet, Pluto). Personally I just want to avoid the circular argument and get in to some solid "theories." A topic like this can't be proven 100% in either direction, nor should we expect that. Talking about theories is where the fun begins, but it's hard to get there if we're just focusing on Circular Arguments (e.g. "Of course advanced aliens exist in our billion star system Universe, because our Universe has billions of star systems").
    :)

So what about that Oumuamua situation? Several scientists are openly considering that this could be an object of Alien Origin. Anything from some type of "sail" that is mean to guide a craft through space, or even an actual space probe. Since it just passed Earth, we may have been probed!

It's been dubbed a comet, an asteroid, and a new class of interstellar object. Now, a paper from Harvard astronomers suggests one more possibility into the mysterious object nicknamed "Oumuamua": Alien probe.

Researchers focused on whether solar radiation pressure could explain the unusual acceleration of "Oumuamua," the first object entering the Earth's solar system from interstellar space.

The paper said if solar radiation pressure is the reason "Oumuamua" is moving at high speeds, it represents "a new class of thin interstellar material" either made naturally or through artificial means.

The paper's authors, which include Avi Loeb, chair of Harvard's astronomy department, suggest the object could be a "lightsail" used to propel spacecraft with solar energy.

The other possibility? It comes from aliens. "A more exotic scenario is that 'Oumuamua'
may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization," reads the paper.

Okay, I'll be serious for a moment. Don't get used to it because like a Leap Year it only happens once every four years :D

Let's assume for the moment that we're the only planet in the Milky Way that has developed intelligent life and also assume that this Filter exists in the first place (which are two bloomin great big assumptions). That doesn't mean that aliens aren't existing and visiting this planet, only that aliens from this galaxy aren't existing and visiting this planet. In the grand scheme of things the Milky Way is pretty small compared to the universe as a whole. So who's to say that there isn't an alien race or races visiting from other galaxies?

How would they get here? By folding space or some sort of inter-dimensional travel, the same way that I'm suggesting that aliens from the Milky Way are doing the same thing if they exist.

There are just too many UFO sightings for NONE of them to be the real thing. I can't remember where I heard it now but they reckon that 5% of these UFO sightings can't be explained by natural or man-made phenomena.

The thing I find a bit confusing about the whole Ufo thing is this.. Why when virtually everyone has a mobile phone do we not have videos of these giant Ufo's that people have reported to have seen? I once read about a pilot who was travelling to Guernsey and he saw two huge yellow Ufo's. He and his passengers kept observing them through Binoculars, but why on earth not just take a video on a phone and upload it to YouTube? Then go public once you've done that to talk about it? The pilot did go public to speak about it, but why not one picture of these huge Ufo's?

Yep, same reason we don't now have loads of photos of ghosts.

Not sure about that. Are you allowed to use mobile phones on planes? Have never been on a plane before so I don't have any idea about that. The fact that just about everyone has a mobile phone on them these days has certainly increased the amount of these things captured on video and uploaded to YouTube though.

I'm mainly talking about the ones People/Police/Pilots report to be the size of a football field etc. I don't think I've ever seen a video or picture anywhere of one of these large Ufo's. Been the size of a football field you would think someone would take a video or photo of one of these things flying overhead..

Definitely, plenty of videos on YouTube of people taking videos on planes at full elevation for all sorts of reasons. I have flown around the world plenty in my life, and I've recorded with an Android Phone, iPhone, and iPad. I once posted a Facebook Status update while mid-flight of a photo from my window where we were flying through a cloud that had created a "tunnel" - it looked amazing. Not to mention all the friends I have on my current Facebook feed who fly regularly and take/post videos all the time.

Heck, you can go to PornHub and search for videos of people caught having sex on a plane mid-flight! lmao

Here's a fun video someone took on a flight of a UFO:

My favorite comment from that video:
"why do they always give the camera to the guy with Parkinson?"
