Aliens - Fact Or Fiction..?

Well we've had a time travel thread so I thought we should have an aliens thread too.

I believe that aliens have visited and are visiting our planet. Now I don't think that there are aliens that are living here and impersonating humans, but I certainly believe that at least SOME of these UFOs captured on film and seen by people are alien spacecraft.

How am I reasoning this? Pretty simple. There have simply been too many technological leaps since the 50s to make it not being true. Just have a think about it:

  1. Integrated circuits and microchips.
  2. Credit cards and bank cards.
  3. Cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays.
  4. Kevlar
  5. Lasers
  6. Stealth bombers
  7. The Oculus Rift lol
  8. Velcro.
  9. Quantum Computers.
And then have a look back through time and you have the Pyramids, Mayan astronomy and cities, Stonehenge, the Inca's Machu Picchu and Teotihuacán in Mexico.

A great deal of these UFO sightings are around air bases so a good percentage of them can be put down to experimental aircraft, but ALL of them?

The truth is out there. Trust no one.

    I just realised... any civilisation advanced enough to travel to earth would have created a 140 deg FOV VR headset and they'd be on a 21 series nvidia card by now.

    So why would they want to leave their games room... let alone leave their planet?

    As for why aliens would take the time to bother launching into space and go to other planets the answer is pretty simple - for the sake of exploration.

    If/when we discover/reverse engineer FTL/inter-dimensional/folding space technology we'll end up doing the same thing. To see what's out there.

    That's not actually why we are interested in space though. Even at our limited stage in human development, we understand that our existence on this Earth is finite. One day the Sun will explode. We need to find a new home before that happens. If there is an advanced Alien species, then they have surely figured out that their own planet is in danger as well. So if they were to bother launching in to space, then it would be to find a new home. If they come here, it's probably not for friendly reasons.

    Interesting comments and opinions. My view is the human mind and our science cannot fathom the complexities, possibilities or vastness of the Universe and beyond despite the discoveries we have made. We tend to look at things in "human" terms as this thread exemplifies when there are no doubt many other seemingly fantastical possibilities. There is also the notion of why would any intelligent alien race want to interact with us lot? Again, the vision of grandeur we place among ourselves in the greatness of the universe.  I like to believe there is intelligent alien existence across the universe but none that would visit here to reveal themselves or perhaps be able to visit here.

    Completely agree with this part: We tend to look at things in "human" terms as this thread exemplifies

    The idea that all we have to do is reverse engineer Alien technology is a great example. It's such a Gamer's perspective, isn't it? It's like losing a PvP fight and saying, "I lost because my opponent has a better gaming rig and better wifi."

    Because that's really what we're saying here... is that the Aliens can travel across galaxies because their PC's have better spec's and they Internet harder.

    Yes a theory is not truth, but you haven't presented either an idea nor a theory. Saying that someone is "flat out wrong" isn't truth in itself. I am more interested in talking about the scientific aspect of Aliens and their ability to travel across galaxies. So far you seem only interested in saying that you are right and other people are wrong. That's not much of a discussion.
