Question

Behold the stupid thing I did!

I spilled a coke in my PC ><

It's my own dumb fault too. I spill things all the time and I should know better than to sit a drink anywhere near my PC. But I did. I went to stand up, hit my knee on the keyboard tray and the coke spilled directly through my top fan vents. Immediately the PC black screened. I (understandably) freaked out and yanked every cord out of the power strip as fast as I could. I had the whole thing unplugged in about 4 seconds but it's not looking good.

My GPU was literally dripping coke out of it. My mobo was also covered. As were all of my drives. I took everything apart as fast as I could and washed most of it in a crazy amount of 91% iso(not the mechanical drives as if any liquid got inside they are rekt either way). Things are drying now, will be a while before I know.

My guess is the mobo, GPU, 3TB, 500GB are dead for sure. 1TB and SSD maybe. CPU, PSU and RAM likely okay(if mobo didn't fry them). But yeah won't know for a while.

So laugh at my foolishness and pray to the tech Gods for my rig. I know I was dumb and I can admit it lol. >_<

I'm using a crappy laptop at the moment just to go online.

Yeah I'm back on the laptop now. I had a blue screen. Seriously I had just said to Nobbs "I'm just sitting here waiting for something to explode" and not 10 seconds later I got a blue screen. I've never had a blue screen on it ever.

So I decided to let it dry out another day. It may or may not be that, but if it is it would be stupid to run it now when it passed a firestrike with OC as well as it did.

Nobbs looked up my bluescreen error and it seems related to bluetooth.

The little mini PCIE card on my board for wifi/bluetooth is actually the most likely place for some moisture to still be hidden. It's really likely to be that, especially as the CPU and GPU passed stress tests. I'm gonna let it chill out for now, tomorrow I will remove that card and check for moisture and then see. If it still does it, I will remove the card completely(don't use wifi or BT on this PC right now) and see. Then we will go from there.

No hat eating will occur until we know however!

I feel very warm inside.

After sharing my story of my PC coke disaster, so many people offered to help me out. If I wanted to take advantage I could literally be swimming in hardware right now. Of course I'm not like that. My PC is still up in the air but I'm pretty confident it's gonna be okay at this point. If I were to take advantage of something like that then every time I looked at the hardware in question I'd hate myself. I could never take advantage of someone's kindness that way. People taking advantage is why more people aren't kind and helpful in the first place.

But yeah so many people reached out to me and offered to help. The usual suspects of course. But also some people that I barely know and would not have expected. That kind of thing makes me feel really happy. It reminds me that the world isn't completely hopeless and that there are still more good people I haven't met. Just a few years ago I was convinced that the entire world was nothing but assholes and dicks and each day now I get shown how wrong I was. It makes me really happy.

❤❤❤Thank you for all your kindness people who reached out to me! Even if it is not needed, it will not be forgotten!❤❤❤

I guess I had some serious luck @_@ I don't even know how this is possible BUT LET'S NOT QUESTION IT. The Gods are on my side. End of story.

Yet the same Gods allowed you to spill the coke in the first place... ahem.  They do love to test and jest these Gods don't they.

No, see the coke getting spilled is all about me being dumb. I literally spill at least one drink in here a day. It's honestly a miracle this didn't happen before now. I spilled one in my G710 just last week(it's fine).

No more drinks in here!

Ugh!

Kind of pricy, but I use one of these:

Vector Cup Holder

There are cheaper alternatives too.

If you need something to dry fast, put it in a box of uncooked rice. Sucks the moisture out like crazy. I've seen people using that for phones dropped in toilets many times.

How about one of these:
http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/easivent-bottle/

My 8 month old Son manages to drink from it with no mess!

As expected if the first drops shorted it and shut it down without blowing anything up all would be fine.

As you got to cleaning straight away there shouldn't be any lasting damage.

Happy days it all figured out.

PS, I would have offered parts but I sell everything the moment it comes out of my PC so no spares.
