Fallout is a great franchise. This trailer is stupid though, nothing but slow camera pans of stationary rooms. No action or any hint of what is going on in game. Might as well just be screenshots. It looks like nothing special at all so far. If it gets VR it will be an after thought, they'd be fools to focus on that as a main part of the game, comparitively VR has no audience to advertise to, they ain't makin this for us, if 100% of vr owners bought the game it wouldn't cover their budget. There are not enough of us yet :(
I don't think anyone is expecting the game to be VR only, but it would make sense to have it playable both flat and in VR. It would be cheaper to do it that way rather than doing what they've done with Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR, despite Sony and HTC part funding development.
You'll end up with most of the bugs being shared across platforms, the same way you do when working on a multiplatform game.
Somebody mention Dead Island? That was good in VR. Had to use 3rd party utes, but was well worth the effort. Did make me feel a bit nauseous after half an hour or so - but that's half an hour of VR zombie slashing fun! :)
Have you tried dying light?;it's by the same guys but with far better budget on it . It WAS going to officially support VR however it was dropped at the last minute, however you can turn it on with a few clicks on an initial file
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR :)

Well, it's really just a teaser to let you the game exists, which is pretty big news, considering that until the other day we had no idea that a new Fallout games was in the works. They'll likely release a proper trailer and some gameplay footage at their E3 conference in 10 days.

@Brixmis - didn't realize there was a Dead Island VR mode (even if unofficial), thanks for letting me know.
@bigmike20vt - Dying Light is great, one of my favourite open world games of the past few years. I just tried it in VR a few weeks ago - it is the first time I felt true fear as I heard one of the quick agitated zombies gaining on me as I ran away. Let my younger brother try it too - same thing, it was hilarious. LOL
@snowdog - I agree that Bethesda should be able to include a VR option going forward on their titles if they are using the same engine. But as far as I understand it took separate teams to put together the VR ports - and if the new game significantly changes the base gameplay systems there that could require extra work to port to VR. Specifically if they change the UI in any significant way, or if it is indeed a full blown multiplayer game they would have to account for showing player models in VR in a way that does not decrease immersion. At the moment I doubt that Bethesda is going to divert a section of the team to work on an included VR mode for what is essentially a stop-gap game in the franchise.
That said - if it is a single player game, that doesn't significantly alter the UI in a way that requires altering the VR UI they already created for Fallout 4, I think they would be nuts not to include it from ground up.
