Feature Request... Live Streaming to YouTube and more. Natively from the Meta Quest 3 headset

Live streaming directly to platforms like YouTube and Twitch from the Meta Quest 3 is a highly requested feature

. While the process currently often involves casting to a desktop and using software like OBS, there are options for a more integrated experience:

Current options and workarounds

Casting to OBS on a desktop: You can cast your Quest 3 to a desktop browser, then capture that browser window using OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) and stream to your desired platform. This allows you to include gameplay audio, microphone audio, and YouTube chat, according to Meta support.
Mobile-only YouTube streaming (Android): It's possible to live stream to YouTube with YouTube chat using just a Meta Quest 2 or 3 and an Android phone. This involves casting to the phone's browser, enabling desktop site, opening YouTube's live streaming interface, and setting up the stream.
Vstamer Live (third-party app): Vstamer Live, a free VR application in App Lab, allows streaming your avatar from the headset to platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. This simplifies the process by handling encoding and broadcasting directly from the headset. It even offers options for full-body tracking with additional hardware. Note that some features are restricted in the free version and require a subscription.
Casting to a PC for further processing: You can cast your Quest 3 to your PC using the Meta Quest Link app (wired or wireless), then use the PC's streaming software (like OBS or Streamlabs) to stream to various platforms.

Future possibilities and observations

Growing demand for native streaming: The user's request highlights the strong demand for a more streamlined, native streaming solution.
Potential for built-in functionality: The fact that casting exists, and third-party apps like Vstamer Live can stream directly, suggests the possibility of Meta integrating native streaming functionality directly into the Quest operating system in the future. This would likely simplify the process considerably for users.
Direct streaming capabilities: The YouTube video notes that the Quest 3 may be moving towards direct streaming to Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook, similar to how consoles handle it. This could be a significant step towards enabling native streaming and eliminating the need for complex PC setups.

In summary, while a truly native, one-click streaming solution may not be fully available yet for all platforms, existing options and third-party apps provide ways to live stream from the Meta Quest 3. The future of Quest 3 streaming is likely to move towards more integrated and user-friendly

We used to be able to do live broadcasts. They removed that ability and replaced it with this bizarre cast to phone that is casting to something else method.

At the time I think they said that it was removed because of abuse. But since you still can with cast, that does not make any sense.
