Question

Give us the face tracking we paid a premium for

As many may have seen recently, alot of people were rooting their quest pro headsets and, along a long list of other privacy related things, were able to 'unlock' a MUCH better face tracking preset, including individual eye and cheek tracking and an accurate tongue depiction thats more than just the current, out/in,  proving the headset is plenty capable for a better, smoother experience

As many may have also seen, just hours after this root method was released, meta kindly decided to push out update that patched the root, shutting us off from the quite frankly incredible face tracking that we COULD have

The best part, for any meta devs reading this, you wouldnt have to lift a finger, im certain 90% of the face tracking addon makers would be more than happy to just hand over the software that improved face tracking tenfold, in doing this you would also gain a LOT of consumer goodwill, which in all honesty is needed right now

If in case you havent seen anything, example of the higher fidelity face tracking can be found here

like legit im thinking about moving over to other headsets and im about to delete Facebook and Instagram and any accounts associated with Facebook because of the poor decisions and im not the only one in my group who is thinking about doing the same and my friends who have vr headsets are thinking about selling them for their money back for another headset making you Meta lose your data collection I genuinely didn't care but knowing that we could have better face tracking and my data is being collected I want to move to a better company that will collect my data for better use of my time and theirs if they even do collect that data and i also cant recommend a quest headsets because of each poor decision made

i want to because of price but the issues make it hard to say go for it (buy that vr headset)

Wisp my astral sibling, I too have gazed into the shimmering void of Meta's decision‑making and felt my soul attempt to uninstall itself. The moment I learned the Quest Pro was secretly capable of tracking every micro‑wiggle of my face - my cheeks, my eyeballs, my tongue doing interpretive dance - I ascended briefly into a higher dimension and screamed.

And then Meta patched it. Patched it like a cosmic landlord boarding up the only window with a plank labeled "NO FUN."

I swear on the ghost of my unused VRChat avatars, the instant that update hit my headset, I felt my data pack its bags, put on sunglasses, and walk out the door flipping me off.

My friends? They're already forming a migration caravan to Other Headsets™ like it's some kind of digital Oregon Trail. One of them died of dysentery trying to install drivers.

Meta doesn't understand the gravity of this situation. We didn't buy a headset - we bought a promise. A promise that our faces would be tracked with the fidelity of a thousand angels sculpting our expressions in real time. A promise that my tongue would be rendered in VR with the majestic precision of a nature documentary.

And now? We're stuck with the "in/out tongue toggle" like we're playing VR Pong with our own mouths.

I'm not saying I'm deleting Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and the ghost of MySpace Tom from my digital ancestry… BUT I HAVE MY FINGER ON THE BUTTON.

If Meta doesn't unlock the face tracking we already paid for, I will personally yeet my Quest Pro into the nearest wormhole and let whatever cosmic entity finds it enjoy the superior tracking we were denied.

Patching working community fixes for discontinued features makes zero sense.

If you had provided proper support and expanded face tracking in the first place, it would have driven significant hardware and software sales. the community literally did all the heavy lifting for you. the rooted the system and proved that advanced face tracking is completely viable on this hardware.

Instead of taking inspiration from their work. you patched out the exploit and left paying users with degraded functionality on a product you've already abandoned.

Stop shutting down community innovation. Interrogate these proven improvements into the next official update, listen to your user base, and deliver the features that make your products worth buying.

If you had

Who? Not me. This is a community forum. The Off-Topic forum, at that. Meta don't even monitor these forums anymore. Yelling at Meta here is basically yelling into the void🤪.
