Idea
Hello Dear Meta Community and Developers,
Im Raptor, I am an Analyst
We all know that the two biggest hurdles for mass VR adoption are device weight and cost. Reducing the actual weight of the headset requires billions of dollars in R&D to shrink components. But what if we solve this problem mechanically and cost-effectively?
Imagine a lightweight, affordable, and simple wearable vest or a spine-rail system
My Proposal: A Mechanical Weight-Distribution Wearable (Vest/Spine Rail System) Instead of trying to make the headset lighter right away, we can distribute the weight to the strongest part of the human body the back.
Tension/Rail System: A simple mechanical rail or tension wire connects from the back of the vest to the headset, pulling the front-heavy weight gently backward and transferring the load straight to the shoulders and back.
Zero Neck Strain: This would completely eliminate neck fatigue and the "front-heavy" feeling of the Quest 3, allowing users to stay in VR comfortably for hours.
Humanity might not have the sufficient technology to drastically lighten VR headsets just yet, but we can solve this problem right now with physics and strategy.
Solve costs and weight will open a new era for Virtual Reality.
