I was reading an article that spoke about the California drought. It spoke of the problem originating from a 1000 mile wide, and 90 meters deep 'blob' of hot water. this 'blob' is located off the coast of California, apparently.I've only been aware of the blob, and it being a problem, for about an hour, so I came up with a quick potential solution. This blob is apparently re-directing weather from California, so it never rains. What happens is the rising heat re-directs the potential rain clouds away from California's coast."The blob -- measuring about 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) in diameter and 300 feet (91 meters) deep -- is currently positioned against the West Coast. It is about 2 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit (1 to 4 degrees Celsius) above normal average temperature. Climate scientist Nick Bond was first to call the warm weather anomaly "the blob" nearly a year ago.If this indeed the issue....this is, apparently...at first blush... easily fixable for a very low cost.To add, it is in IN
I'm getting very tired of waiting. I've been pretty patient but I'm like... beyond despair, losing interest.Worst part of it is that you don't hear anything from Oculus anymore. The Crescent Bay is all they ever show, and it's from Sept 2014, that's nearly 8 months ago, and that's like 5 years in VR. So not knowing what to expect and when is even worse than waiting for the product itself to arrive in the stores.Until then my faith in VR is in a limbo. :?
Thought this might interest a few people, 1.8 billion light years wide finally something bigger than my Ego. ;) >;{}http://www.popsci.com/biggest-thing-universe-giant-hole
Just as the topic asks. How do you add a picture to your profile here in the Oculus forums. I tried looking in my profile settings, but there isn't an option. Thanks
Wearality Sky has launched their Kickstarter campaign:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/we ... mitless-vrI'm not sure what to think about it. With mobile solution like this it makes me wonder how headtracking will be solved without any extra sensors or cameras. If there's none, that's a showstopper for me - with my sensitive stomach the DK2 camera is probably a major factor that makes the entire VR experience possible for me.
watch this then post what thoughts come to your mind about it, id be interested to hear peoples thoughts on it. If you cant spare the few minutes, also posted images on it which you can quickly scroll through but the video is pretty nice for you to enjoy.cliffs: scroll down to view.
I have a problem running games with my Oculus as I am on bootcamped Win8 from my Macbook..My problem is, that my max resolution is 1280x800, are there any way to force the games to run 1920x1080 in windowed mode (or fullscreen, I dont care) I also don't care about the black borders, as I most probably won't be able to see them inside the Oculus anyways, this is just a huge deal when running in Extended mode, Direct mode works just fine..
Hi,I try to connect the Oculus DK2 to iMac(27-inch, 2013 late) with Converter(Planex PL-MDPHD02).At One time it looked as if they were successful, but 2 minutes passed it removed ,and 5 seconds passed it attached ,and 2 minutes passed it removed,...Same phenomenon is repeated forever and ever  . After that,I try to connect a MacBook Air to Oclulus DK2 with same converter, then there is no problem(@_@).is there anybody know the solution, then let me know, please m(_ _)m.
WOOHOO! Virtual drinks are on me!After almost a year of recuperating, I'm finally down to using a single crutch to walk! At this point in my rehab it's all about retraining my brain. My leg is now strong enough to support my weight, but my brain still insists that the leg isn't meant to do that. It's strange how one year can impact the brain so dramatically.Virtual reality has helped me recuperate in ways that many of you may not realize.Being unable to walk for nearly a year can be a depressing situation. During that time, the Rift allowed me to walk again, drive again, and run around killing zombies as if nothing had ever changed in real life. The Oculus Rift allowed me to LIVE again. It was a virtual life, but as you know, the mind accepts VR easily. A virtual footstep keeps that part of the brain active for the day when an actual footstep is possible, and the promise of room-sized tracking presents a perfect goal for me to get back on both feet before November (Do NOT let me down,
I never once received an email from CompTia.. ever, that is, until I get my basic certifications out of the way. Two months after getting the three certs, they are constantly emailing me asking me if I would like to save $100 on them.. double ya tee eff?I would think that a technical certification company would have a bit more intelligent spam-bot

So, I need a bit of advice in regards to, yea.. computers. In particular, in the area of NAS or SAN arrays.Looking for something that is:- Scalable to 1PB- Has automated redundancy (think of a raid 5 setup)- Hotswappable- Less than a 5 digit figure for everythingSuggestions welcome.
I'm just here so I can moan about the problems I've had with getting KinectV2 for Windows to work.I keep reading about people here using them and I'm so frustrated because I've had weeks of problems trying to get mine to work. I understand quite well about the USB3 controllers compatibility issue, but that hasn't helped.I bought a used V2 from Amazon. Tried it on 6 different computers, didn't work on any. Spent 3 weeks doing the install/uninstall, etc. Then I bought a Resnas USB 3 PCI which is stated to work with it. It didn't.Then I sent the PC and the Kinect to a computer shop and they had it for a week and tried it on many many machines. No joy. (yes, they billed me of course)So I bough a new laptop because it was Intel. That didn't work.Microsoft told me it was broken, but the person had no idea what a V2 for windows even was.In the end, I decided to give up and buy a new one. And guess what - that doesn't work on 8 PC's that I've tried.Next step is to go and buy a Microsoft
Its been a while since ive used my oculus which i have the DEV 1 and i cant figure out how to get it to work with Arma 3. I have Vorpx and the trial of tridef 3D and i downloaded facetracknoir cause it used to have rift option but now its not there. So if anyone can help me out that would be awesome. Im not very tech savvy
Hadn't seen this posted before, good interview Tested did with the CTO of Fove, who are making a new HMD that will include eye-tracking. Apparently a kickstarter will be launched soon, but personally I hope they get bought out, we don't really need another HMD coming to the market and it would be a shame if this technology only made it to an HMD that is certain to get overshadowed by its competitors.
I'm debating the Oculus rift vs Sony Morpheus for VR. Can anyone comment on which would be the better option? If I go with the oculus rift I'll need to buy a desktop, because right now I have a low-end business laptop with integrated video.

Hi folks!I'm trying to fully setup my user profile here on the forums but I can't for the life of me find the option to set my Location, Website etc. I see some of the people here have it so I guess it has to be possible. Is there something I'm missing or have those features been disabled on purpose? In the User Control Panel I can only set up my avatar and signature (but the latter doesn't seem to work at all even though I have it set to "always post" in the settings).A minor thing but slightly frustrating. Thanks for any help!
I don't know as much about VR as many of you, but it would seem to me that taking a 108 P screen down to 5 inches or so would produce a retina like resolution. I've heard even this isn't enough though, and that resolutions as high as 4K may be needed. Is that true? Translated to pixels per inch, what's needed for the eye to be unable to distinguish reality from VR?
It seems society will soon be able to take our collective revenge on all those annoying obsessive smart phone users when they take the next step, and blindfold themselves completely in the public arena. What pranks shall you play on them?
I want to start by saying this isn't a rant against Oculus at all. Though, with the surprise left hook from Valve & HTC and Oculus staying completely silent at the GDC in regards to the Rift (Aside from a new demo which they ran on a Titan X, because every average user can afford that setup) and focused entirely on mobile VR. With the Vive coming out and obliterating anything Oculus has done to date and have given us a time in which we will get it, there is almost no way Oculus will retain the real PC users. With so much focus on mobile VR, they are shorting their staff and development for the CV1. It's great that there's healthy competition now in this market and I'm extremely excited to be involved in its growth, but using a cell phone as the power source and storage for VR makes no sense for those who want true immersion. So here's is my honest advice to Oculus; stop working on a CV1. You have lost the market. You were decimated at GDC & you did nothing to defend your honor.
