In regards to Unity projects.I have yet to compile any of my own, as I have much to learn of the software still. But I am interested on hearing how long the usual, say 30 MB or so project would take to compile. Is this like a several hour affair or?
A pretty wild view from an electric FIA Formula E using a Go Pro cam on the drivers visor!
After seeing this video im a bit concerned about my DK2 now.Has anyone at oculus looked into or addressed the issues in the below video? And is disabling motor functions a viable solution?
I saw that Otakon had demo'ed the Sword Art Online online game demo at Anime Expo. Are they planning on visiting Otakon on the east coast of the US to do the same thing?
I'm Looking for a developer company to work with in a join venture. I have a really great idea.
Ok so drugs are bad, dont do it, but if anyone has tried the rift while high, share here, please. I am wondering if drugs enchance presence?? I know Im going to try and smoke a big one and play hl2 when I get my cv1 (I have not tried a rift or any vr device yet apart from youtube videos on a tablet with lenses from binoculars and when I am high I get more immersed)
Back on March 21, when I paid in-full through PayPal for a DK2, I had high hopes that I might actually receive it on or before my July 9 birthday this year.Obviously, it is clear now, that my purchase 50 hours after the DK2's went on sale, when there were roughly 16,000 orders ahead of mine, will push my unit into (at least) August; so I won't have my personal birthday gift to myself until then. Not really a problem for me, as I understand manufacturing issues all to well.I'd rather have it Right, rather than Right Now.So my new Birthday Wish, is that some of you early purchasers will at least get your email notifications today; so I'll feel like those notifications are still part of my birthday celebration too!And if the notifications don't start showing up today, I'll still consider them belated birthday presents when they do!I don't need to be first; because I'll still be happy reading about everyone receiving their notices and DK2's too! Will HartFullerton, California

I was typing the thread on my phone.
Let me start off by saying if you are going to talk trash please don't even respond. I'm seeking a unbiased answer to my following questions.1. Could the fov on a homemade HMD, with a smart phone and these lenses http://www.ebay.com/itm/5x-pocket-loupe-magnifier-with-Aspheric-Lens-/251148139033?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a79987a19 ever compare to the fov that oculus has? i saw many oculus owners replacing the stock lenses with these thats why i have picked them.2.is it possible to achieve a head tracking latency comparable to oculus by using either an gyro mouse or Wiimote Ir combo/Ps3Eye ir combo.(if youve never tried it please just be quiet. As i said before, Im looking for people who have actually experienced both not some random know-it-all on the internet)Also as far as the latency from splashtop or kainy goes(because im sure someone will bring it up) i think i found a work around that many of you may not know about via reverse tethering on android OS.And yes i plan on
A really cool guy named Ed (who lives about 10 minutes away from Oculus and holds many patents in Ocular implants) developed this control system some years back. He gave me permission to post this info on the condition that I state that Paraflight is no longer in business.methods003.jpgmethods002.jpgmethods001.jpgHere is a snip from the documentation:1. Background: Most all aircraft require the pilot-in-command to control the airplanes’ rudder and brakes systems with the use of their feet. Some pilots who are unable to access the rudder pedals utilize devices to actuate the aircraft’s standard controls. Most commonly used is a device such as the Union Aviation Inc. Portable Hand Control that is clamped to the aircraft’s rudder pedals. While this device carries an FAA supplemental type certificate (STC: SA860S0) for a number of general aviation aircraft, it is not considered optimized for safe flight operation should large adverse control movements be necessary during flight. After a long, hot day, my wife and I had taken our dinners into our back bedroom to enjoy in the only air-conditioned room in our house, while watching a movie on our flat-screen HDTV, when one of our cell phones started ringing in our kitchen (where we stupidly left them) at 6:35 p.m. California time.My wife got up, went to the kitchen and got our phones; and I checked the voice-mail that had been left on one of them. The message was from our next-door neighbor, telling us that UPS had tried to deliver a package, but since our little 42" high fence-gate was locked, it had been left with our neighbors! All I could think of, that might be coming our way by UPS, was of course, The Oculus Rift DK2, which I paid for completely with PayPal on March 21st.!And I suddenly thought, "Hey, that's why there was no announcement today! They already arranged for UPS to deliver them all today instead!"But due to a pinched nerve in my right hip at the moment, I asked my wife (without telling her what I
Here I am thinking about possible ideas for VR experiences and time and time again I keep coming up with the Cafe scene from the Christopher Nolan Film: Inception. For those who do not know of the scene, here it is:I can imagine sitting in the chair and looking around and the very act at looking at something will cause it to change, rotate, flip or explode in super-slow motion.I can imagine looking at tall buildings and watching them rotate above me and folding and unfolding the landscape as you look at it to create surreal landscapes that are forever changing. For me, this would be one heck of a VR experience- putting on the Rift, going into the virtual world in the Inception VR demo, then you go into another layer of VR, then another layer...Until you are 6 or so layers deep until you forget which layer you are currently in. :o Perhaps I should start learning Unity. :mrgreen:Oh and apparently Nolan used REAL explosions and REAL folding sets to create that cafe scene.Something tells m

I found that thread interesting, thanks for leading me there. Don't know why I didn't come across it years ago when I wanted a TD Visor. So it all started w putting leep in a tdv

Hey Forum,A bit of soul searching.....Personally I consider myself to be a very creative mofo :) I am an idea guy and right now (for the time being) that is all I am really good at. Sure ideas may be cheap... I get that. This is the whole reason I am soul searching in the first place. In the past I have been written off as a troll from many forums, because my pure creative enthusiasm completely lacked the insight and wisdom that I have now. just google search for "cubytes" you will see what I am talking about. But know that some of my past idea posts are a bit far fetched and completely lack insight and consideration; which is kind of embarrassing.... As an idea guy I don't just conceptualize obvious ideas/features anymore like I used too. I conceptualize experiments with a keen eye on the big picture. I back up my ideas with lots and lots of consideration and thought processing before I even share them with you (which is what I failed to do in the past). Honestly the whole reason why
I'm new here and I don't have the DK1. I've ordered the DK2 and I was looking forward to trying all the demos but I heard that the DK1 games won't work on the DK2. Is that true?
I say it with some humor .. but I am seriously getting ill .. "ill" as in "oh my I am going to empty all my stomach".So thinking that "time & practice makes perfect" I tried quite a few more demos .. more than once .. they are all nice/lovely in their way .. however .. quite a few of those especially those "as simple as" "go around and look around" make me real sick after 1 minute or so.The moment I keep controls in hand and start moving around a room just looking around and moving around .. I get this weird feeling like "being over and invisible cart pulled by some invisible thing" .. and 'the more immersive the environment is, the worse this feeling seems to get".I am asking myself really "how ANY FPS of any sort is ever going to work ?" unless probably some "special care tecniques" are employed. But seriously it's been quite a while I've been trying demos and .. I could maybe say there isn't one so far that did not at some point or another triggered in me the feeling of "I love t
Now and again a topic comes up, regarding one basic property, or standard, or such, of displays and video distributon...The other week, the show "Home Theater Geeks" on twit.tv, had a pair of guest, who are SMPTE members, and discussed the rough lay of the land, regarding Ultra High Definition Television. -It occurs that this episode makes an excellent overview primer to a few basic concepts, such as 4k, UHDTV, colour gamut, HDR, and so on, so I figured it deserves a link here, so that anybody who'd like to get a loose outline, can have a look. Here goes:http://twit.tv/show/home-theater-geeks/210

Hey Forum,This idea has been nagging me like crazy. I have to pitch it to vent a bit of creative energy. Honestly the scope of this idea is way over my head and way over my current skill set and to be frank it wouldn't be wise to pursue this idea unless you are comfortable with committing to 'Control VR' all the way like exclusively....absolutely no hand held controllers whatsoever. The Three Paths;1) The path of the aether2) The path of the sage3) The path of the summoner The path of the aether: basically an elemental mageThe path of the sage: basically like 'deep forest emergence' a master of plants. The path of the summoner: summons beasts and creaturesOnce you choose a path you enter the world very quickly there will be a narrative but it will mostly be told on the fly and rely on the environment to tell the tale more so then scenes dialog and npcs. Game Design;-the world and a lot of the gameplay would be sort of similar to Dark Souls -which means a huge open world full of procedura
