Question

Poll: Will Facebook and Oculus prevail against ZeniMax?

First off, I know several threads about this topic exist. This is not an
attempt to restart the debate. Since the verdict should be coming in
the next few hours (the jury deliberates today), I am curious to see how
this community believes the Jury will vote.

Synopsis: ZeniMax has 9 lawsuits, 5 of which are against Facebook and the rest against Oculus. Details in a discussion thread here:
https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/488527/#Comment_488527

So with that in mind, what will the Jury decide??

Think it's fair to say that the jury has had to work through a complicated case so they would go for the big ticket items they can get their brains round.

So the NDA and the download of emails/codes would have struck home, while the delay in filing and the discussion on the 15% of the company would have played the other way. The failure of Oculus' founder to keep his temper and the attitude of some of the witnesses will also play their part.

But I can not see this being against FB, but with OVR coming out on the harsh side.

But, again, with jury trials, it can be just down to if they get good donuts for their breakfast refreshment before deliberation! So hoping for sprinkles tomorrow!

Edit - Seems some on Reddit are agreeing with my comment previously that this will open up a pandoras' box of action suits - after ZeniMax showed the vulnerability of the OVR position to define their claim (no matter the outcome of this first trial). Expect a lot of rich legal teams over the coming years!

It's a good job Valve are so easy going. I don't think GabeN is arsed to waste his time in court. I doubt he's evern enjoying seeing Oculus ripping...

Is GN and Valve so easy going?

The reason we know about the loaner VR Room system is due to leaks from a legal investigation into patent protections at HTC. Maybe Valve will have someone else fight their battle?

I agree that I can not see GN enjoying seeing a company he was prepared to support in their KS video become this toxic in a court battle. But I would never say that they are "easy going"... they just play the long game (Valve time!)

Valve's already been in court over Steam, and lost to the Australian government. Now we all have the ability to get refunds for games. :)

How come Oculus gets away from not giving refunds if Steam is forced to?

They do  - they have limits too - if you play the game over x amount of time - you bought the game

FYI, this is not meant to be an Oculus vs HTC thread. HTC and Valve have nothing to do with the ZeniMax trial lol

Greyskull was He-Man's castle. Skeletor was He-Man's enemy, and didn't reside in Castle Greyskull.

You clearly mean to say "Yellowwww skullllll".

Also, FYI, this is not meant to be a He-Man vs Skeletor thread. Greyskull and Yellowskull have nothing to do with the ZeniMax trial.
