PSA: got an email from nvidia 1080ti will be in stock march 23

Sounds like above MSRP but not getting ripped off by nearly as much as everyone else.  At least the Nvidia email you got was at MSRP.  The fact that they send it the day before they even stock up suggests to me that they will sell out immediately.  So it'll be like Nvidia is under DDOS attack with all the refreshing of browser screens going on on the 23rd.

I've got a Geforce 1080 and I'm keeping it for a good few years. I game in 1920 x 1080 in 2D and the 1080 is good enough for VR at present. 4k is a waste of time in 2D unless you have a screen that's bigger then a 42".. 

I'm running a 1060. My eyes are old will notice a big difference in how games look and feel with a 1080?

I have a 1060 also, the only reason I want to upgrade is for the flight sim DCS.  It will make a huge difference in that, but for most of the games I get on Oculus home or steam they'll look and play pretty much the same until you start using super sampling.  Then our 1060s start to lag way behind and the 1080s usually keep going without slowing down.  In some games it will look much better with SS, in others it won't look different at all.  It depends on the game.  You can test it now with your 1060 to see the difference in gfx quality, it's just that some games might turn into a flip book.  But you'll at least see what the difference would look like.

2 seconds?!  I seriously hope ehterium fails.  I hate these fucking miners.

well, it was probably more like 2 minutes, but i wouldnt know because the site/cart wasnt working for the first two minutes, when it finally worked, i had one in my cart and hit submit, out of stock.

That's what's bothering me about the Ampere series release, mining will probably still be enough of a thing to mess up prices & availability.

Should've got one when they came out - mine was only £699 - bargain!
