Question

Star Citizen

Who here has bought into the game already? I'm looking into it and am just curious to see how much of the Oculus community is there. I'm really bummed that I am only now looking into getting in on this game since it seems that I missed alot of cool early backer perks.

Also, starting an Oculus specific plan would be really cool.

So yeah, what do you all think of Star Citizen and Squad 42 so far?

i kicked for it, it looks like its going to be a fun game. most importantly its being made with moddability in mind, im imagining something like neverwinter nights styled servers.

its going to be amazing to see what people can do in such a framework.

Game seems like it is going to be amazing, but my worry is that they are over-promising. Even if the game manages to deliver everything they say, it'll likely be in small increments over the next 3+ years. Hopefully they prove me wrong!

I'm game for joining an Oculus guild/clan/squadron/whatever.

Yeah, I backed it on the Kickstarter. Hopefully not too long until we at least get the hanger demo (apparently it's in "code lockdown" and is now being tested).

The only downside with that demo is that people will be dying to actually fly their ships and not just walk around looking at them. At least we'll be able to get a taste of what a new AAA title will actually look like in the Rift.

A Rift squadron is a good idea :)

I really wish i had backed earlier, i'm so jealous of what the early guys got -__-

Being a big fan of Chris Roberts earlier games I couldn't help but back this when it launched.

Can't wait to get in my Origin 300i. :)

I'm heavily invested into the idea of the game. I'm excited to see how the hangar app is on the 24th.

I backed on kickstarter the moment I heared of it, that was end of 2012 (yeah, early veteran backer with all the benefits :o ). Since I did check out the EvE online vid's (dogfight with rift) I can't wait for some more details from Chris and his crew on rift support for star citizen.
Already checked with the tech support on the option of going rift with star citizen during alpha and beta, but they just pointed me to the forum or tech chat sessions to ask the question (generally I think that the tech support is not staffed yet to handle that kind of question) - didn't take the time to hop on a chat yet and forum details are quite limited on rift support.
But since the latest news spread that them guys at RSI were recently testing one of the 2 HD rift prototypes out there in the field touring companies and conventions, this sounds quite promising I would say. I can't imagine how cool a dogfight with the rift would be, being able to look around to identify position of oponents instead of having to maneuver (did I speel that right?) around to find the enemy ship.
That'll give rifters a clear advantage I would assume. Technology is a bless :geek:

I backed the game the second I heard of it. It basically is everything I've every looked for in a space game. And that was before it talked about Rift support. Can't wait until the backers get to play it. :-)

I pledged during the original campaing. I was pretty hyped about getting to play a space shooter again. Now I'm even more hyped after getting the OR devkit. Games with cockpits tend to look very nice on the rift. The potential immersion playing SC with the consumer rift is mind bogling. If they succeed in presenting the scale of things correctly it might be more aswesome than some people might realize. Walking inside a huge hangar and entering a smaller ship that still has room to walk in might be one of those really powerfull experiences.

The $12 million achievement means that we will be building a professional sound studio, replacing the current home office used for Star Citizen’s sound recording. This will give the team access to professional voice talent and the ability to interact more directly with the team doing the sound portion of the game. It also means we’re going to push for Oculus Rift support in the upcoming hangar module… so line up those Rift pre-orders!

If all goes as planed I can admire my ship with the Rift in a couple of weeks. :D

I remember Chris Roberts saying that a poll indicated about 30% of backers were planning to buy the OR. With 200 000 backers, that's a huge OR community!

Also more than half reported exploration as a main goal, making it higher priority for development.
