Surprise for your unneeded TF2 hat code

I've been informed by one of our members that this is most likely a scam to get you to give your hat away for cheap. There's no concrete evidence to prove this; however, I recommend you keep your hat - it could be worth far more in the future than one of these $20-30 games (and most gamers should have 3/5 of those games, anyway). You're free to do what you wish with your hat code, of course, but use your own discretion here.

This message is dedicated to all of those (9,522 Kickstarter backers) who got the Oculus Rift TF2 hat code and do not need it. I was not able to get the headset because of finance problems :( But as I know there are people who do not care about the code, so I'm willing to honor you gentleman gesture buy gifting you one of the following games of your choice :)

    @above, I don't think its worth that much, probably 4 buds or about 110-130 dollars (its a "cancer" hat with a low level effect, rarity doesn't always imply value with tf2 items)

    As a TF2 trader, people can always add me on steam and ask for advice on trading their hat (my names Dr.Minky). Don't want to buy one off someone, just give advice, certainly don't just sell it for games like this OP guy trying to rip you off.

    Keep a piece of history, give it to someone who deserves it, or take your time and sell it.

    @LouisB Admittedly you are probably right, there are a lot up for trade on Outpost and Bazaar.

    I actually think the effect is quite cool, there are a lot of rumours going around that they are going to change it to a misc so you can wear it with other hats and other people are saying you can get the effect without wearing the rift.

    I don't think anyone can really decide on a price for the hat until it becomes tradable, then we will see how popular they are and how much they sell for.

    They may never become tradeable, but that will inadvertently make them more valuable. You can trade "untradeable" items by using an item called 'gift wrap', which wraps the item as a present and allows you to send it to someone

    This is pretty much why I stopped playing TF2.
    It became all about hats and manipulating the trade market so you could get keys, which would then result in 50 backscratchers and no unusual hats.

    That being said, I'd give steam Mass Effect Collection for someones Oculus hat. :lol: (hopefully people would see it and go easy on me while I'm in Rift violently throwing up and capping their intel.)
    Its a fun game when played on lively servers or with friends.

    EDIT: Ahhhh yeah post 40000.

    The games you are offering are either Free to Play (Dota 2) and you are talking about not scamming?
    and instead of helping you're fellow rifters, you rather charge them up the rear end (Someone just offered you 50$) yet you were like "nah" ...way to be a community helper.

    this is not a scam i promise, i just want to buy as many of these hats as i can. not because it is profitable (it is), but because im a girl and i like hats...
