I've gotten hot playing in VR, but it was always cause I was punching the crap out of robots or the AC couldn't overcome the sun. The headset certainly doesn't help as it does get warm, but I wouldn't call it hot. Probably the biggest issue is that it blocks airflow to your face.
It gets hot in combination with the external heat, you are right. But there should be some thought to the airflow.
What do you suggest? It's a bit pointless making a post without suggesting anything. Sticking fans in the headset would be like switching on a car heater while the engine is hot. They could open the headset more but people would moan a bucket full that it ruined their immersion. So what do you suggest other then what I've suggested? Even using a fan to suck hot air out of the back would make things hotter because you would be in close proximity to the hot air been blown out.
I suggest you solve world peace.. Think of the children

Here is me naked.
I recon you got quite a set of love handles, mate. :)
BTW, I can totally relate to the heat problem. Not that my headset is heating up but given my tendency to sweat like a pig it's a bit of a problem even at a normal room temperature; I even had my lenses noticeably fogging while playing active roomscale games or watching ..ahem.. intense videos. With summer finally kicking in, I have a bad feeling about my perspective of playing roomscale in my aircon-less apartment -____-
