The "I'm effin Quarantined" Megathread

Governments across the Globe are in Quarantine, so I figured that this community could use a thread to discuss our first-hand experience of its impact. As a side note, I never would have guessed that a global pandemic would be the primary driver to getting VR more mainstream!
:p

For me, I had taken a long break from VR. I have maybe engaged in VR for 1 hour ever 2-3 weeks. It's been that way for nearly 6 months now. Mostly because I feel that I've experienced so much since I first acquired my Rift in 2016; I got to the point that everything (even new AAA titles) started to feel like 'more of the same.' This is something that has impacted me before. For example, I began gaming with the Atari 2600 as a kid, moved on to NES, SNES, Sega, and eventually PC Gaming. But I took a very long break from gaming (over 5 years) because I hit a point where everything on every gaming platform felt like a regurgitation of something I've done before.

However, now that I'm stuck home for at least 2 weeks during quarantine... it's time to jump back on to the fray!

So...
  1. What games/experiences will you be engaging in with VR?
  2. What non-VR activities will be occupying your time?
  3. Are you one of the people who can work from home during quarantine? Or is this pandemic negatively impacting your job?
  4. Are you hoarding food and toilet paper?

I'll answer first:
  1. I will be (finally) completing SkyrimVR. Before I took my VR "break," I had already completed both DLC's in SkyrimVR, and I'm already near the end of the main quest. After that, I will be loading up Stormland.
  2. I'm playing through Divinity Original Sin for the first time, in preparation for the upcoming release of Baldur's Gate 3. Beyond software, I will be doing lots of exercise.. Gotta keep up the conditioning!
  3. Since I'm a software engineer who has been working from home primarily for at least the past 10 years, this quarantine will be... more of the same.
  4. I'm a non-hoarder, but wondering if I will regret it.

Looks like Amazon are introducing restrictions to non-essential items being stocked in its warehouses to cope with deliveries of important stuff.

Makes complete sense and hopefully won't last too long... initially planned to go on until 5th April. I can see the possibility of similar policies being introduced at the courier level (DPD, TNT etc) at some point. Just glad I ordered my hobby stuff already.

Also, anyone who isn't self isolating, should really consider not using on-line grocery shopping at the moment to leave the slots available for those who are.

Yup, I emailed Asda the other day asking if they were going to do this. I SHOULD be self isolating given my condition but I was unable to get a delivery for AGES so I went to Tescos to get a few bits and pieces. Managed to get a big box of cat food for my puss which should last her a week but once that runs out I'm going to have to go out again.

I've now got enough human food to last me for at least 36 days now, but cat food is a real concern for me at the moment. ?

I've got 5 or 6 small boxes of Aldi cat food but it makes her sick so that's not an option.

I might post on a cat forum or two to see if someone living in my area can do a swap, Aldi stuff for Felix, to save me going out again next week.

I'm going out with a scarf covering my nose and mouth and am applying hand sanitiser to it to try and prevent me from catching this thing, hand sanitiser on my hands and then putting my hand over my nose and mouth over the scarf to try and prevent anything coming near my nose and mouth.

They should get the Army in to enable more deliveries I think. There's Army bases all over the UK so it should be doable.

I think they may get the likes of DPD and UPS etc involved in grocery deliveries if they can't manage via the usual means. I don't think the store websites are geared up for big increases in traffic though so it may take a few weeks to fully iron out.

Preferably DPD. TNT or UPS may mean a half-empty box of eggs.... pre-scrambled... delivered to a neighbour... on a random day.

Oh yeah... the military should definitely enter and control all neighborhoods. What could possibly go wrong?

Hey now Zen it doesnt always have to go wrong.
After Katrina I was part of the Mil patrols in and around New Orleans.
The locals trusted us way more then they trusted NOPD.
Could be also because NOPD is corrupt as hell and we didnt give a shit about pot.
But trust me Snow you dont want Mil vechiles riding up and down your streets.
They are big cumbersume and damn near garunteed to break side view mirrors off of parked cars.
WAAAGH!

In the UK the military do not have the 'shoot first, ask questions if they survived' attitude seen elsewhere...  Unless they are in a war zone :)
