The makers behind Vader Immortal (Industrial Light & Magic) made two apps available on Steam which only support Index and Vive

Droid Repair shop is also an old one; played it on my Gear VR last year. Not a bad experience to show the capabilities of the platform actually.

I find it so interesting that the majority of the talk being done on these Oculus forums is in regards to Oculus Competitors headsets. But then the forums have slowly been dying off anyway, no where near the activity it once had.
Maybe when they get Link and Hand Tracking going it will perk up some interest again.

In the meantime, yay Index!

Agreed - it impressed me, it's short, but textures look great - and it's great fun. I'm convinced that the level of polygons and the texture quality in the SteamVR version are way beyond the capabilities of GearVR. The recommended video card is also a GTX 1060.
Got 90 fps on the Index using ss 150%, but 200% was too taxing for my oc'ed GTX 1080, 150% still looked amazing. Textures looked much like Lone Echo level, blacks were great too, this app really looked like made for the Index. Knuckles worked perfectly. This app can also be great fun for kids - or maybe just, like you said, for introducing guests and Star Wars fans to VR. Some pics:

Next up Trials on Tatooine!

Trials on Tatooine was less impressive - although the sound using the Index speakers was amazing. It looks dated, and Unreal engine games don't respond to SteamVR ss, and ss 100% didn't look great. I'm thinking that this game will look better on a Gen1 oled display. It wasn't bad though, but nothing I'm keeping installed. Vertigo 1 wasn't good either, waste of time, but at least I got Droid Repair Bay  o:)

Full hand/finger tracking using Index hmd cameras - but just a hobby project, hard to see why Valve would pursue this due to the already awesome full finger tracking using the Knuckles:

Not sure the forum is dying but more of going through a transformation. Most of the long time supporters of Oculus are ready to move onto the next generation of Headsets. Considering the current Oculus path is creating headsets that suit the majority rather than the enthusiast, many of us are looking elsewhere. However there has been an enormous influx of new members with the Quest and S.

You may also want to note the title of the category these are posted under

General

Discussion for Oculus and all things VR.

If people do want to see only Oculus related posts each Oculus headset has a category of their own.

You're lucky there are dedicated threads for these things. Just imagine the horror if it was a free-for-all. Rune would create about 100 index threads per day.

Until Oculus release a tangible product to talk about that isn't just an incremental side-grade or geared towards mass market, then I think as a VR community of enthusiasts rather than Oculus loyalists, it's natural to discuss what the competition is doing. Hopefully Oculus Ghosts are watching and listening.
