Maybe no great surprises, but Index wins as the best VR hardware 2020, and Alyx is the best game:

For those having tried Alyx with Index and Knuckles this should not be any surprise - it's simply the best gaming experience I ever had, even Lone Echo pales in comparison.

Agreed it was no real surprise - as I am sure Quest 2 will be in the ranking next year!

The big difference is the foundation that these two elements bring to the VR community. I try and avoid those that just attack HL:A and the Index because of their association with Valve. It should be more about what they achieve and help build than their association.

I understand that we are now at a point pf pure demarcation, those in the Standalone camp and those in the High-End PC camp - I hope that one day this will converge.

You don't need that, and I'm convinced Valve thinks so too - right now there are only 3 games that truly support the Index in all its glory - Alyx, Boneworks and - maybe - Room VR. Maybe BluePlanet VR too - but that's not a game. Using 120/144 Hz Index is perfect for RTX 3080 and 3090 - more res and you easily may need something better than RTX 3090.

We do not need more hmds - we need content with ultramersion texture quality! 2c.

Man this forum software...

After spending a day flight simming with my new Reverb G2, I think it is going to be quite the contender.
That is ok though Valve had a hand in it also.

Don, ya, there is something funny going on with this forum software.  Posts seem to come and go, lol!  Glad your G2 is working well with your sims mate.  Cheers.

I finally broke down and ordered some new Valve Index controllers today from the US.  Was not cheap, ~aud$750.

So now Valve will probably finally start shipping to Australia, lol!  I'm hoping that these controllers will work great with my Vive Pro and that I'll then be more likely to use it rather than rely on my Rift cv1 for most of my PCVR gaming.  My Vive Pro (with etsy gear vr lens mod btw) is already my goto PCVR headset for all flight/racing sims.  I'll let you all know how this works out.

Thanks much, yeah it is definitely awesome for sims.
Have not got around to trying it with the controllers yet, at least not in a game- soon I hope.
One thing I like about the controllers, you can actually turn them off.

Ya, the only good thing with my Vive Controllers is you can press and hold the bottom Vive button to turn them on/off, lol! Actually, using SteamVR bluetooth you can also have them turn off when you exit SteamVR.
