Mmm think I have had my fill of Boneworks for the day. Rather disappointed.

Edit: Was just checking out No Man's Sky VR now that it also has support for Nvidia DLSS.

Might check that one out.

OMG!!!...these things are amazing, and you were right, you have to learn Vr control all over again because i keep trying to do stuff the old way by pressing the button, rather than with my actual hand, fingers and palm, but in am getting there, loving these things. 🙂

Agreed, and Alyx may look awesome with an oled hmd - I think much of Alyx was made when CV1 and Vive (Pro) ruled the world.

Well, the Valve Index SDE is visible in a vertical pattern to me normally and it's there stationary. It's the light gaps I'm looking at. I can see horizontal too in bright lighting. But I don't see the weird banding that I see in those vertical column pics which seem more prominent. It looks like this from Tyriel Wood's through the lens vids.

Disclaimer this is zoomed in.

Either way it's not a significant issue for me. It's hard to see in normal gameplay in most situations.

May 20, 2021

Yeah can't say I much notice it either and I certainly have several hours in now with the Index. I mean I know it is there, and if I really focus on it I can see it, but normally I am looking beyond at other stuff so it does not nag at me really.

I am currently doing another play through of Medal of Honor Above and Beyond with the Index this time. I will say though that black screen during the loading of the mission, OMG the glare on that thing is pretty rough.

yep, i mentioned in the forum thread that if anyone would like their sig corrected, let me know. Happy to repeat the offer here.

Less hopeful it's going to be globally corrected than I was but hey-ho... all the Oculus chaps must be busy on something 😮

I'm very convinced you're totally in the wrong thread - this thread is about the Valve Index. Try to make a new thread in a relevant sub-forum, thanks!

With that ethnic slur nom de plume account name they have chosen i suspect app sharing will be the least of their worries once that account is eventually flagged and banned at some point.

It's supposed to be depressive intentionally. It's inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which took place in the chernobyl disaster site. Into the Radius is basically in an anomaly zone with strange and weird stuff going on.

I tried Into the Radius and I mostly liked what I played but there was a lot bugs and jank. Leaving base and my pistol disappear and such. The devs are very active though so I've had it back burnered for awhile waiting for patches. Most people seem to like it so I will definitely be jumping into it at some point, probably after I get the Vive.

Ok, I'll give it a try too 🙂 Only because it has DLSS ðŸ˜‡

When I met my wife in 2006, I got the Russian STALKER movie with English subs and we saw it together - to this day she still considers it the worst, most boring and most horrible movie she ever saw ðŸ˜‚

I did enjoy the STALKER pancake game from 2007 a lot - but so far Into the Radius didn't feel that similar, unfortunately. As said, I'm willing to give the game another try with CV1 ss 2.0 + RTX 3090 + DLSS, if that doesn't help... ðŸ¤ž

Have you read the original book?

Those movie, the book and the game are totally different.

Ok there is one idea in common. Idea of unknown you could find in ordinary world.

But all other are different 🙂

Yea, it seems to be a very small team behind it. You can tell it's a passion project which is why I didn't refund. The game just released in like july of last year and it's already had 35 patches and updates....35 lol. 6 of those in this month alone and it's not even over yet. So yea, very active devs who care about the game being good. I'm letting them work their magic and letting the dust settle and then I will go through it.

This is their roadmap through June. They're transforming most of the game.

They talk in detail there but you can see roadmap on right side.

Also one of the devs said this 6 hours ago -

Great to hear that you enjoy the game! We want to greatly improve the base game before we even think about dlcs at this point, so lots more free updates are coming anyway )

Most games get burned for releasing in such rough state, but I think the fans understand the potential here. I'm sold on the vision myself but need a lot of the annoyances removed before I go through. (And they may be by now IDK)

Guys, can you create threads that relate to the subject you want to talk about please.

People may not venture into this thread if they're not interested in an Index headset, but they may be interested in some of the things you're now talking about.

I understand this thread has become a forum within a forum for non-Oculus interests but this is an Oculus forum after all. If you go to other non-manufacture affiliated VR forums you'll find Oculus subjects aren't suppressed in the way they're starting to be here. It's becoming a little unfair to Oculus users if that's what's happening. Not just that but we're not getting Quest question being asked in here as they probably see this as a good please to get views! that's not a good thing.

Thanks.

I'll take this into consideration - recently I did make several threads, but often with very limited responses (kinda feels like I'm writing to myself) - and I'm thinking the boardies who might care for these games don't read other threads. I've recently made threads for these games:

I mostly only go into threads I've already been to from notifications because I hate the layout for the topics. It's too large/mobile like. Shame it's downgraded so much that just chatting is considered suppression to other topics now.

Sometimes it feels like we're just 3-5 dudes back here - but seeing the thread views jumping from 30k to 35k, maybe there are more visitors in here than one might assume, lol. Maybe fueled by Google too ðŸ¤”

I do hope that the Big Troll has been given a warning by the mods too - I know we're more than 3 persons having sent in our complaints, especially since trolling is not allowed in here.

But back to the Index. Devs just informed that they've fixed the finger tracking in one of my favorite Index games for stress reduction - namely Garden of the Sea (9/10 on Steam, more than 200 ratings):

Devs said that they had no Knuckles and could not check if the temporarily broken finger tracking now works again, but one Index dude said it now works.

Right now I cannot check if finger tracking works, but for those who like this kind of semi-adventure games, Garden of the Sea is highly recommended - and no, this does not look like Alyx, but the view distance is great and you've got nice dynamic shadows. I could not do more than res 150% with the Index before I got 45 fps with the GTX 1080, so this game does require some gpu power.

If you have kids or guests with kids, this might be a fun intro to VR, where you should be able to use all your fingers, and this game is one of the few to support the Index controller trackpads.

Also not sure this game really is for kids - some tasks does require you to think, I've been stuck several times, I do hope a 10-year-old kid can't do better, lol ðŸ˜¬

I know need every game to have full Knuckle support in everyhting now, so i may come to regret allowing this knuckle genie out the bottle if these things ever break or develop a fault. lol
