Currently enjoying my second playthrough of Medal of Honor Above and Beyond with the Index. Main reason is the increased FOV which is nice with this game. Running 200% SS at 120 Hz and performance seems fine.

About to embark now on Omaha Beach, it's about to get real. I seem to have developed a crush though on Juliette this time around...

Playing Medal of Honor Above and Beyond this afternoon with the Index, was in heat of a mission when controllers went dead.

No warning at all, would be nice to get a low battery warning message in headset while in the game.

Btw, my Knuckles are just lying on a table - this setup does look nice (just posted on Index Subreddit):

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/niqxkp/set_up_is_finally_vr_ready/

I think the Knuckles stand can be bought on Amazon, might want a white one though - if possible...

Found it on Amazon.com:

https://www.amazon.com/VRGE-Controller-Premium-Storage-Controllers/dp/B08239QS3H

- but due to Customs and shipping would be extremely expensive to import, unfortunately right now the stand is not available on Amazon in Germany:

https://www.amazon.de/VRGE-Index-Controller-Dock-Premium/dp/B08239QS3H

I'll check out Ebay in EU later - it's the nicest stand I've seen so far (have posted about it before, but never got one):

Maybe not exactly a new game, but still an awesome game from a time where devs were highly committed to make the best possible  PCVR games,  Detached has just been updated with full Knuckles support:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/436230/Detached/

Detached Major Update #05 – Valve Index Supported!
No calibration needed – we’ve heard you and did what we promised. The latest update to Detached brings a lot of news in terms of steering and compatibility. Read more below:

Added Valve Index suport
First of all, we’ve added the Valve Index support many of you were asking for. The Valve Index Knuckles controllers are now fully supported. This means you don’t have to force it to be identified as a different set of VR devices just to make it run properly.

Redesigned onboarding sequence
A new onboarding sequence is designed to brief players about the game's possible controls and movement options. So yeah, basically, we’ve made a better and more clear tutorial to help players choose the best movement settings that suit their style.

Added binding graphics in options
Some of you made us aware that the controls are not as clear as we hoped, so we've added some graphics with the layout of the control settings to be previewed in the options.

Added action names in SteamVR binding settings & localized them properly.
This required a fix, and these actions are now displayed correctly. We've made sure they are well-localized and unified so it won't cause any confusion.

Fixed disabling pause menu with left thumbstick
It's what it is. You can exit the pause menu by simply pressing the left thumbstick. This might become handy when you accidentally enter the menu and want a quick evacuation route. 😉

It's been a long journey, but the wait is over – you can now fully appreciate the feeling of being alone in Space! See you out there, astronauts!
Next week, we will have a little surprise for you. Be sure to follow us to not miss the announcement!

Btw, note that I'm getting 45 fps ASW with the CV1 ss 2.0 in this game - I bet you'll need something like a RTX 3070 or better to run the Index 90 fps res 200 % in Detached - with maxed out in-game grahics settings. Do not think that this an old and outdated game, it's still one of the best astronaut games in VR, ok not at all same class as Lone Echo, but still great - note that Detached always was for VR veterans, it's not for newcomers with no VR legs (or now you have been warned 🤢, lol):

Maybe it's not an AAA game, but maybe AA? A? 🤔 😉

So back on topic,

I was considering Daft's advice and I went to order the Valve Index. The full kit is in stock. However, I first needed to make sure that my new Alienware laptop could run it. I don't want to run it off my older VR Desktop since it is still using a lowly 980. However, it seems that there are ongoing issues with the Index and the Area 51 laptops:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/virtual-reality/11/333955/hdcp-error-valve-index-area-51m/

So it looks like Index isn't very friendly with all GPUs and configurations. That's a shame, because I honestly would have ordered one just for the fun of trying it out, writing a review, etc.

But alas, my Quest 2 still runs perfectly fine using PCVR on my current laptop, and I don't plan to update my Desktop's GPU for another year or two when more compelling PCVR titles are released. Maybe I'll update it for Lone Echo 2?

I'll keep an eye out for Valve's ability to support my current Alienware setup. If they can get the Index working on it, then sure, I'll order one.

Lucky for you that you found one post from about a year ago to save you from getting an Index.

Dayem your lucky.

Nice try, but we're only 5 months in to the new year. One of those posts is from a mere 7 months ago.

The most important part of that thread, which you clearly chose to ignore, is the fact that the issue remains unresolved.

There's more evidence of this on reddit and other forums which can be seeing by a mere Google Search. But if you want to ignore all that and make this just about "me" then go for it. 😎

The Knuckles completely disassembled - I would not recommend doing this at home, Valve's patience with the warranty may not stretch that far, lol

It appears there are no moderators left on this forum who want to action against you Zenbane and those that do are your friends. Its clear now the rudest inmates are running the Asylum.

Its a sad day for me but you'll be glad to hear you won another battle, I don't want to be part of this anymore.

It was sad day you joined this forum in 2016, your toxicity and aggressive behaviour has basically killed the forum community spirit. How you are here after 7 bans is beyond me and for that alone, I have to take my hat off to you. The forum in its hey day was such a friendly great place for all to visit.

Thanks to all the great user who contributed to the forum over the years, it really was a great journey with Oculus.

Like the Elves I shall dwindle into the West or something along those lines

Cheers and goodbye

Listen, the only one truly breaking the rules here is you. With your constant personal vendetta. You have repeatedly launched personal grudges against me, hoping that I'll engage in some insult-fest with you. It's obvious you're doing it to try to get me banned. And it's obvious that the restraint I show against your futile attempts is angering you.

As for the Forum Moderators... they are even-handed to everyone equally.

Not once have I seen a Moderator give you a public warning for your constant derailment of threads and personal remarks. Not once have I seen a Moderator give Rune a public warning for his constant antagonization of Oculus and this Community. The Moderators give everyone the same amount of freedom to express themselves.

The fact that this thread even exists is a testament to how friendly the Moderators are to users with an open grudge against Oculus.

Just because the Moderators refrain from being used as a weapon to ban people you don't like doesn't mean that they are playing favorites.

It was sad day you joined this forum in 2016, your toxicity and aggressive behaviour has basically killed the forum community spirit.

When I joined the forum, it was toxic to any Oculus users. The forum was filled with HTC Vive users insulting Oculus users on a daily basis.

No Oculus user could keep a single Oculus related discussion on the main page. And don't act like it didn't bother you, because back then you were one of my biggest fans! You upvoted every one of my battles with the anti-Oculus crowd. There was a time where you and I became friends because of my "behavior" with those who flooded this forum with disdain towards Oculus consumers.

But now that you also share the same grudge against Oculus, suddenly you want to distort history. You're so quick to abandon truth.

You keep saying you don't want to get dragged in to a grudge with me, yet you keep making these silly "Zenbane callout" posts. Now you're saying you are leaving the forum... and I'm sure that will be just as truthful as everything else you've said.

I have no interest in a grudge with you. The days of epic forum battles are over. The sooner you can realize the truth, the happier you'll be on the forum.
