An awesome load of Indeces, lol:

Seems a lot more fun than my workplace, sigh.

Also I noticed that I've locked SteamVR Home at ss 200% (did than using CV1 and switching to Index didn't change the 200% setting) - so maybe I got a little more blown away by the image quality the first time I used the Index than other persons might be, lol. Then again, normally SteamVR Home is (I think) set to adaptive ss, so GTX 1080+ owners may get ss 200% (or close) as default.
Vanishing Realms also inherited my CV1 ss 200% using the Index, again that may explain why that game looked so amazingly ultra-sharp when trying it for the first time - but no reason to go below ss 200% using Index when you can get solid 90 fps.

The view and the butterflies simply look awesome ss 200% - much like this, if you click to enlarge, and forget that wand, I didn't make that screenshot ;)

I never really noticed the wooden high-res textures using CV1, but I really do using the Index. I'd even say that the mountains in the background look less blurry using Index ss 200% than when enlarging the above picture - then again ss 200% is using about 17 mill pixels to render one image.

New modding available for Skyrim VR (updated August 25) - made especially for the Index. According to the dev:

If you're not familiar with it, It's basically a high perfomance ENB preset with shaders written from scratch for VR. It applies proper tonemapping to Skyrim, tweaks lighting to make nights darker, and applies some sharpening. The new version has the following improvements:

- Implemented a luma based sharpener to make it easier to filter and clamp the values.

- Improved the sharpening sampling pattern, it gathers samples from the 8 adjacent pixels using 4 samples.

- Added a depth mask to the sharpener so you can sharpen the hell out of the image without getting any aliasing around the edges of objects. This really helps with grass, trees and other foliage. Combined with Skyrim's default TAA settings there's very little aliasing along edges. The default sharpening amount of 3 makes everything crisp even with TAA at default. The depth mask requires 5 additional samples to do it's job so there is a slight performance cost, but on my 980ti it was about 0.3 ms, so it's pretty negligible.

- Added a clamp value to the sharpener. This clamps the sharpening amount to reduce surface aliasing. valid values are .5 - 1. .5 removes all sharpening. 1 is no clamping. The default setting is .65.

- organized the settings in the enbeffect.fx shader panel. Sharpening settings are now at the top, followed by LUT then the Tonemapping.

- added some preproccer directives to the shader. if you want to completely disable sharpening, and/or the sharpening depth mask, and/or the LUT you can comment out their defines in the enbeffect.fx file (check lines 11-13). Doing so will save you a bit of performance if you don't want to use these features at all.

Cheers!

Doing high concentration work like software developing in an open office is hell. No matter the amount of toys involved. It's the fist thing I ask about in a job interview, and I am very happy that I am in a position where I can turn down any place that have open offices.

Does "United States" now include Hawaii and Alaska, or is it still only the continental USA? They were locked out of the pre-sales.

I think this is part of a lab, where students are able to use the indices.

No idea, I just copy/pasted that list from the Valve faq page.

Hmm, hard to tell.
My first thought was classroom (well, I'm biased obviously).
If it was an office, having only one phone shared by at least 14 people (I can see that many monitors) would be annoying. (Although at my work, my little office with 3 games staff has no phone, the audio department gets our rare calls)
No customisation. Nobody has decorated their desk, or brought in a mechanical keyboard? I'd turn down a position where I couldn't customise my working environment.

On the other hand, if it was a classroom the drawers at each desk seem odd (at least to me). But if it's a permanent VR setup then they could keep the controllers in there.
