Here's mine...

I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.

Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.

It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.

I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.

I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

Unfortunately my grado's don't agree with excessive bass :/

Oh which ones you have?

I use the DT 1770 Pro (the spiritual successor to the industry standard DT 770 Pro https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/catalog/product/view/id/3871/s/dt-1770-pro/category/1464/

Combined with Shiit DAC and AMP, enough bass to melt your brainz ..

SR235's
Only entry level really, but enough for my needs.
Odly enough my current mobo doesnt need the DAC or AMP as the output on these things nowadays are spot on.

Excellent Greek band from the 70's - used to listen to them all the time in our 3 years Cyprus tour - their French version of The Boxer is outstanding (but I can't find that one):

Talking of that era - another fave of the time - just let me tune up those dials...

She's still looking amazing these days, too (unfortunately the chap died about 12 years ago)

Prog rock is something people either love or hate. I happen to love it. Here's a couple of samples of prog rock at its best.

Yes. Roundabout

Had to post the entire LP for the next one. It's not an LP you can pull a track from. All, or nothing, I say. Pink Floyd's brilliant LP, Animals. Personally, I think it's their most underrated and unknown LP. It's my favourite. Everyone loves Dark Side of the Moon and how it examines life. Yea, it's a great LP, but it's not Animals. Animals takes it a step further. It looks at life in its rawest form and doesn't pull punches. Amazing lyrics too. With lines like: "You have to be trusted, by the people that you lie to. So that when they turn their back on you, you'll get the chance to put the knife in." it can't fail to be raw.

Animals is Floyd’s best album by far - or at least it is their  best guitar album.

I love prog rock - and more specifically art rock, because it is an all encompassing genre. Not limited to singular forms of expression but more about using various genres and techniques to create music that is more than just songs.

My favourite Yes album is The Yes Album - like Animals it is album where the guitar is the central instrument and Steve Howe is just a brilliant player.

My favourite experimenter in art rock is actually Paul Simon (or at least he tied with Peter Gabriel) - even though he is mostly associated with folk or pop music, he is actually very experimental and his last few albums have stretched the boundaries of what traditional pop music should typically is associated with.

Speaking of Peter Gabriel, he is a god. This on full blast, on a rainy drive on a dark motorway. GOOSEBUMPS!
