Here's mine...

I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.

Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.

It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.

I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.

I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

Not much bite left in the old dog, but he's still scratching an itch of mine no-one else can..

Yea, he's better at being Nine Inch Nails than Trent is at this point and he's 61 lol. Course he was basically NIN before they were. I liked his song "I am dust" from a few years ago too.

61 is no age for a Robot
And yeah, "I am Dust" is a good track.

Soulfly recently busted out a new track. Just came across it today and I love it.

For those unfamiliar with this band, the front-man is Max Cavalera, who is the original front-man of Sepultura.

Nice, Yea that album is pretty much a Melodeath masterpiece. I love Absit Omen and Remnants off it too. Their latest album Vessels is a concept album so it plays a bit differently. They have a new album due this year as well which I'm super excited about.

Also check the album before. Every album from Be'lakor is different. Stone's Reach is highly regarded also.

Venator is my favorite off it.

Gotta love old Max. Keeps churning the albums out. I wasn't expecting that turn to death metal halfway through but I guess I should have when I read Ross Dolan lol. Pretty bad ass track

I enjoy his band with his brother, Cavalera Conspiracy

Also this side project he did awhile back with Troy Sanders from Mastodon and Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato called Killer Be Killed. I'm still waiting for the follow up release on it tentatively scheduled for this year.

Also Zen, try this song from Be'lakor off Vessels. It has one of my favorite intros and when the guitar comes in at 1:58, still makes the hair stand on my neck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXthg-3m3E0

If you see the quote in this thumbnail from Markus Vanhala...Markus is one of the best guitarists around and he plays lead guitar for both Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium. Here's a couple of tracks from those bands to round out some tracks from my favorite 4 Melodeath bands (amon being the other)

Omnium's formula is to have really beautiful melodies and guitar work and to contrast it with the vocalist's very coarse brutal vocals. His vocals take some adjustment period but they grow on you fast with some spins and you start to appreciate them. Also Markus' playing is divine.

This song has some awesome guitar work.

Frontiers has some cool synth to it.

This song was an ear worm for me when I first heard it for a month.

And then there's Insomnium who is probably the most well known Melodeath band next to Amon Amarth. They are more like art than music. A lot of their songs are long epics.  I linked my favorite song by them with Alex Hefner reacting to it before so I'll do 3 different ones.

Mortal Share

Weather The Storm

Great Guitar work in this one.

I got on twitter for something (I'm a masochist) and saw this on my feed.... yea I'm officially pumped up.

Excuse me while I go outside with a battle axe now and charge into something.

So many brilliant songs produced by Brave Brothers. They even write in their own "BRAVE SOUND" logos in the intros if you listen. There's nothing like hearing "I'M ILL" fully pumped right up in a club and the house rocks!!!
