Here's mine...

I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.

Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.

It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.

I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.

I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

One of my favorite bands of all time is back with a new cd Armén. I started listening to them in 1990 in college. Now they've aged a bit - they're from Sweden, originally two medical students (according to an article, not sure they ever finished their education):

Got this delivered from Belgium today - and no, not gonna sew that stuff onto my jacket nor will I ever wear that metal pin:

I think they kick harder than ever - maybe age and experience help seeing things more clearly, lol:

Get the limited edition here - they ship worldwide, and these small bands will greatly appreciate any support:

I actually never listened to those guys before, even though they aren't exactly a new band lol. (I'm totally out of the loop regarding new metal acts).
That song is simply oldshool, well made, classic metal in my book, and really hard not to like! Good stuf!

..but on a completely differen't note, GoGo Penguin just released a couple of songs from their upcoming album, and recorded a little live session. Can't wait!

Lamb of God's early albums are amazing. This song is great, but their last few albums feel a bit regurgitated.

I have seen them live about 3 times. They are just amazing musicians and performers.

That GoGo Penguin band is interesting. The second song there is pretty badass.

I'm a huge fan of As the palaces burn and Ashes of the Wake and also in agreement that they've fallen off quite a bit since then. I think I liked two songs off the last album lol. I do like two of the 3 singles so far so we'll see how the rest of the album goes. I've seen them twice myself and they do put on a good show.

Yep! Palaces and Ashes are phenomenal albums. They created such unique and powerful sounds in nearly every song.
In the end though, even the greatest of the greats can run out of new ideas. It happens to everyone. We can pretty much see exactly when other great artists stopped creating new sounds and started re-using their own formula. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer. There's only so much "newness" that can come from one mind.

I only just realised the competing hypno dancer is actually Yuri Muzychenko from The Hatters.
The Hatters is another russian band that is signed to the Little Big Family record label.
(The fact that his outfit is covered with "The Hatters" should have clued me in earlier)
