Question

The Official Comic Book Thread

What are your favourite superheroes? What are your favourite graphic novels?

For me I'd have to say The Punisher is my favourite because he's a complete headcase lol :D

And the Daredevil comes a VERY close second because I'm a United fan :p

Comic books that need to be consigned to the nearest landfill have to be the godawful The Children Of The Atom and even worse the New Warriors.

New Warriors trailer.

I'm still not sure if that New Warriors is a real thing or an early April Fool's joke lmfao :D The characters are fucking TERRIBLE, their 'powers' are even WORSE.

And all of this is happening at a time when comic book shops are going out of business. I just can't see the sense in releasing a bunch of politically correct VERY poorly devised characters at a time when the industry is about to collapse. Stan Lee will be spinning in his grave these last few weeks. It's pure insanity.

Not sure if DC have also started doing this sort of nonsense but if they have the comic book industry is fucking d00med  :o :D

Thankfully we're still getting some decent stuff crowdfunded so all is not completely lost.

Had a hole in my heart for years, but now - after more than 10 years - it's fixed 🤓

For the first time since CGC was established, Savage Tales #11 has been found in 9.8. Previously 9.6 was the highest grade. For now there are two #11 mags in 9.8, and I just got this one.

This also means that my Savage Tales set is complete - all mags are now 9.8. I don't expect any 9.9 mags to be found - ever.

Just bought some FF books - thinking it's time to do something else than VR - so got this (recommended by a friend who's a giant comic book ner* *cough!* enthusiast) :

Perfect for getting my mind focused on something else than VR! Or so I thought - within minutes Reed introduces this bridge to other realities:

I was thinking that looks like a really big Rift portal 🤔 - although the ones I have in the man cave are much smaller 😂

    - And then this:

Yup, that's what all say when trying Index and Alyx the first time. Reed also mentions that when using the device, you don't move physically, it's just the reality surrounding you which changes. Maybe the following is exactly what I should tell the wife when I enter the VR portal 🤔

    - and then this happens - but that's just Crytek's: Robinson the Journey if I'm not mistaken! 🤔 😁

Reading comic books to get some time off VR kinda didn't work. Also reading comic books is nice, but it's really no match for VR - which is slightly scary too, because VR may be an experience more powerful than anything else, thus overruling wanting to do anything else...

Great book and very interesting as well. I read it half a year ago. A friend gave it to me in exchange for the fact that I will write to him about descriptive for the university, I found https://studymoose.com/free-essays/descriptive where you can take examples and wrote off everything from there. In general, I deceived my friend a little. But nothing, he got a high score for the job and thanked me.

I like comic books because reading them takes you back to childhood. I'm wondering, what resources can you use to create comics? I'm sure by now, there must be auxiliary tools to do that.

Such resources today are quite a large variety. Each of them specializes in one direction. Although there are some that specialize in different areas. If you are interested, then on the website, you can read about comic maker. I found this information interesting. Maybe it can help you. I hope it will help you.

My first time reading a comic was the first Spider-Man comics, the ones titled "Amazing Fantasy" before that hero was a household name. I remember finding comics online for free and enjoying it but haven't gotten around to reading more.

Ghost Rider and Moon Knight are two of the characters I have on my list for comic reading, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Those two characters are very unique to me and love the idea of getting to know more about them and their lore.

I've read 'Batman: The Killing Joke' and thought it was excellent, it seems very dark compared to the popular content shown in DC media. Speaking of dark Batman, I have never been more entranced by a comic than when I read 'The Batman Who Laughs', talk about peak entertainment! Honestly, I don't have much interest in DC besides Lobo and Batman.

I'm not sure manga isn't considered a comic but I've read every single part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I was in the middle of watching Stardust Crusaders and the episode ended on such a good cliffhanger, I didn't want to wait a whole week to find out what was going to happen. I went overboard, instead of finishing off Part 3 I ended up reading to Part 7.

If anyone has suggestions on what comics to read, please share!

I'm pretty based so I'll say Spider-Man is my favorite - Used to have an action figure that I'd carry everywhere because why not?

Second favorite 'comic book person' would be Venom because for me it just doesn't  get better than a goo monster from space.

Just won another book, but I do love the Count:

Never easy to fight vampires, this one sucked enough from my wallet to fund 3 Quest Pros, lol.  Tomb of Dracula is special, Marvel trying to create a truly appalling anti-hero did end up creating a character many of us kinda liked for his pure survival skills, lol.

There's also the giant omnibus for those wanting to read these classics and enjoy the Colan art:

I better check the library, but I don't recall buying this omnibus, maybe I should... But I seem to accumulate such books without have enough time to read them. Only have time to enjoys the covers of plastic-wrapped books these days 🙂
