Warranty Service ConcernWhy Am I Paying $100+ to Replace a Device My Warranty Should Cover?

I’m extremely disappointed with the warranty service I purchased for my Meta Quest 3.

My understanding when purchasing the warranty was that it would provide protection and service if my device developed a covered problem. However, I’m now being told that the device cannot be repaired and that I must exchange it instead.

The problem is that when I attempt to process the exchange, I’m being charged over $100 for the replacement equipment, in addition to a service fee. I’m also being given the option to pay even more if I want extended warranty coverage on the replacement.

This leaves me asking: What exactly am I paying for with the warranty I originally purchased?

I understand that replacement procedures may be part of the warranty terms, but I don't feel it is reasonable to purchase warranty protection and then be required to pay a significant additional amount simply to receive the replacement for a device that cannot be repaired.

I’m asking Meta/the warranty provider to please review my case and consider waiving the replacement/service fee or providing a replacement under the warranty without additional out-of-pocket costs.

I purchased the warranty specifically for situations like this, and I would appreciate having the coverage I paid for honored in a way that actually meets the purpose of the warranty.

I’m not looking for anything unreasonable—I simply want a fair resolution and the customer service experience I believe I paid for when I purchased the warranty.

Can someone please escalate this case and review whether these fees can be waived?

You should have asked all those questions (and reviewed the fine print) before purchasing. The onus is on you. Buyer beware.

If you bought your extended warranty through a third party, such as a retail store (Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, etc), then you need to make your claim via that store, not through Meta. Meta will simply charge you for their out-of-warranty refurbished replacement deal, which sounds like what has happened.

Btw, this is a community user forum. No one here can deal with your warranty issues. You should contact BBB or whatever consumer affairs organization you have in your country.
