Question

What's Your Favourite Arcade Game?

And you can only choose ONE!

For me it would have to be the Star Wars game with wireframe graphics where you had to fight Tie Fighters and blow up the Death Star. The sound and music were amazing at the time and the gameplay was great.

I ALMOST opted for Track & Field, Double Dragon, Defender and Scramble but Star Wars JUST edged it! B)

The BEST thing I've ever enjoyed in an arcade wasn't a game but a Dalek you could sit in where you could move the gun and plunger and get it to scream EXTERMINATE!!! That was so awesome to play with when I was a kid. They had one at the Broadstairs arcade in the 70s.

I dumped so many quarters on Area 51 when I got older.
As a young kid though Pole position and Ikari warriors were my favorite.
But TMMT and Double Dragon will always be my alltime favorite.

Definitely Star Wars. I'm lucky in that I have a two-player MAME Arcade machine, so I can play the majority of the classics whenever I want, and the experience is almost 100% authentic, but games like Star Wars need the yoke controller, and without that it's just not the same. Whenever I go to Arcade shows or Arcade clubs that have original machines I always head first to the Star Wars machine.

Maybe this is a small pool bomb, but I'm not sure this game deserves its own thread. But BlasterCell is like a good ol' arcade game - and only available for the Rift. It launched just two day ago - so it's fresh from the bakery and only $4. I have not tried it yet:

Because of nostalgia i must say Out Run. That game was truly something in late 80´s early 90. Music was just outstanding.

It's more like Asteroids - it's not bad. I did get solid 90 fps using super sampling 2.0, but just barely, had no headroom. So it's not greatly optimized, then again it's just 4 bucks. In the game you aim with one Touch controller (laser line from one Touch) and you use the thumbstick on the other Touch to turn the ship. It's been done many times before, but it actually works well in VR - especially due to the in-your-face explosions.
The first time I tried the game I couldn't select a ship - I closed the game and tried again, now everything worked. Of course this game is way beyond any arcade machine from the 1970s and early 1980s comparing the graphics, but of course it's not better than 1942 or 1943  ;)

    Why not combine both:

Giving it some thought, the game stealing most money from me probably was this one:
