Question

What's Your Favourite Arcade Game?

And you can only choose ONE!

For me it would have to be the Star Wars game with wireframe graphics where you had to fight Tie Fighters and blow up the Death Star. The sound and music were amazing at the time and the gameplay was great.

I ALMOST opted for Track & Field, Double Dragon, Defender and Scramble but Star Wars JUST edged it! B)

The BEST thing I've ever enjoyed in an arcade wasn't a game but a Dalek you could sit in where you could move the gun and plunger and get it to scream EXTERMINATE!!! That was so awesome to play with when I was a kid. They had one at the Broadstairs arcade in the 70s.

It's pretty crazy how GPU technology has changed over the years, back in the 90s the likes of Quake on the PC and Tomb Raider on the PS1 and PC were jaw dropping at the time, particularly when you used the hack to make Lara Croft nekked lol :D :D :D :D :D

I've been standing outside @vannagirl's house with a PS1 controller and pressing all the buttons but I haven't got it to work yet. I'll definitely keep trying though and will post my findings here.

hmmmm absolute best...... probably Sega Rally 2 ... however I have different eras of favourites

my very early years........ Defender or  moon patrol

    a little bit older 1942

getting more recent Outrun and Afterburner and RType.

Super monaco GP, super sidekicks and World Cup 1990

(then sega rally 2) along with HOTD and Time Crisis)

(and what i consider to be modern arcade games
Outrun 2006, terminator salvation (gun game)

still missing some absolute corkers..... i play a LOT of arcade games if it isnt obvious and have done since being a nipper :)
(oh damn,. i forgot about double dragon and golden axe..... and Cadillacs & dinosaurs and Final Fight, and ghouls and ghosts....!!!!!!!! - I prefer co-op games to vs games, i always have)

funnily enough i have not mentioned the 1990s virtual reality games.the thing is these are incredibly important to me, they are what got me obessed with vr, but ultimately they made me feel very ill, also G loc with the R360 misses out of a mention because it was way to short and too damn expensive for my pockets.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR :)

I built this mame machine 10 years  ago now. It plays almost every game made before 2003, plus I have a video preview for every game to help find games never before played to see if the game play looks interesting.

And a trackball too! There was a fantastic football game in the 80s that had a trackball controller but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It had an overhead view with play going up and down the screen.

    Fucking knackering to play lol

I built one in 2003 as therapy for splitting up with my ex..... i would not be without it now, and it is a great place for me to dump my previous gaming pc gear when i upgrade :)

The trackball is vital. games like shoot the bull, shuuz, world class bowls are some of the best games on my system imo.

Probably Raiden DX/ Raiden 2....Though the one I've played most with a buddy is Windjammers, it's a Neo Geo Frisbee/ air hockey style game which can be played head to head for much longer than one would imagine...
