Question

What's Your Favourite Arcade Game?

And you can only choose ONE!

For me it would have to be the Star Wars game with wireframe graphics where you had to fight Tie Fighters and blow up the Death Star. The sound and music were amazing at the time and the gameplay was great.

I ALMOST opted for Track & Field, Double Dragon, Defender and Scramble but Star Wars JUST edged it! B)

The BEST thing I've ever enjoyed in an arcade wasn't a game but a Dalek you could sit in where you could move the gun and plunger and get it to scream EXTERMINATE!!! That was so awesome to play with when I was a kid. They had one at the Broadstairs arcade in the 70s.

For me it was Streetfighter 2 just because of the people I used to play with at the time at the local Arcade. Streetfighter 2 was serious business. Second would probably be Afterburner with the rotating cockpit. Loved that gaem and spent a lot of quarters in it.

I had a lot of favorites. When I beated them a new one was in the same or a new arcade.

In Tivoli, a danish amusement park, they had a 4player setup with Gauntlet. Couldnt find any pictures. However, that's what imo really took pc rpg's to a whole other level.

Damn this thread woke nostalgia in me.

The 4 player Gauntlet was fantastic. I loved Dragon's Lair too but I just used to watch other people play it because it was VERY expensive.

Dragons Lair was damn expensive. I watched others play offcourse, and recalled their input's to beat the game faster .. lol

I feel my mind is playing tricks on me. The Gauntlet setup I recall was 4 seperated arcade boxes so each player had their own screen.

Now im in doubt wether it might have been this one:

I'm pretty sure that the one we had had a screen in the middle and the controls above and below and to the left and right of the screen. It wasn't an upright cabinet like that, the screen and controls were flat.

There are usually many configurations of arcade games, base ones and premium ones.... Then add in the fact that often boards get swapped out and put in unofficial cabs ... This is especially true of jamma cabs which were super generic as well as neogeo stuff.
When I was in a shared house at uni I wanted to buy a basic jamma cab and a few compatible games... But I was out voted and we got a fruit machine instead. I have Zero interest in fruit machines but we did make a decent profit off it when we threw parties (and we had quite a few parties)
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR :)
