Question

Without my rift for 2 nights and ahhhhhhhhhhh

My God I hope VR continues. I had to send my Rift back and for 2 nights I've missed it badly. I was just getting back into DCS World flying the A10C and getting really good at Onward. Now I'm stuck playing 2D shitty games and I just can't get into them. Even my Nvidia 3D vision is no substitute on a 27" monitor.

@cybereality - We all know you're the man, so get my replacement headset back to me a.s.a.p.

@lovethis take people moaning about "this" or "that" with a huge grain of salt. When people lose in a fps game the first thing a large percentage  of people do is find a reason other than their lack of skill to explain their loss. Usually their favourite thing to pick is "aim bot" but that's pretty hard to do in onward so they choose something else. Trust me. Play against jizzy pants and you will see , there  are worse things in onward that stocks and it's called Insain skill.

I will agree with you on the stock having an advantage and that is when you factor in scoped weapons. With scopes weapons , stock players HAVE An advantage 100%. But that advantage is only on a stable shot , and not map awareness or tactical smarts. Even with the advantage in scoped weapons I still never feel like I can't win. Because as soon as you get medium range scoped wepaons are at a disadvantage.

I won't be on for a couple of weeks because my Rift has been returned. I need to be more consistent to play in leagues and don't think I'd get the time. Will be good to play with you one day though and hopefully it's when I'm on form. Best I've done so far is ten kills and 1 death in four rounds. I just went on a mad rampage. I was flanking though, so I managed to pepper a few arses in the first couple of rounds.

When you talk about a scoped weapon are you talking about a sniper rifle? I haven't even used that in any map and don't recall seeing it. I normally just use M16 and Ak47 with a Holoscope. I'll take a look at the scoped one you speak about when I get my CV1 back.

I am talking about snipers but also the riflemen class can have the x4 scope. I always play holo or red dot but on downfall sometimes you might want a x4 scope. ( I never pick it but people with stocks do) A player with a stock and a x4 scope will be a better shot than a non stock player. But that's a very rare case as a player can use smoke to get close to someone using a scope and then the holo site has the advantage.

i bet you have better skills than some league players. If you play 2 days a week, your good. I only play 2 days but I have 160h in the game now. League matches are so much fun. Hope to see you on, some days I'm on some days I'm off, enjoy the off days those are the ones your learning the most.

I'm going to side with lovethis on the stock thing. If you have to either buy or create something not originally intended for the game to be on equal ground then not everyone is going to have one therefore you have an unbalance that exists. As easy as it may be to create one yourself, not everyone has the time, funds, or skillset to do so. They might have no idea people are even using them. It is similar to his keyboard vs. xbox controller example except on thing: Everyone is aware either are being used. I don't like to use keyboard and mouse to game, therefore I only use consoles to play PVP.

I don't play onward. Part of me really wants to and part of me doesn't. Things like this definitely move the bar a bit toward 'part of me doesn't'.

See this is the thing I am trying to squash right now. You don't need a stock to be competitive in this game. that's an absolute fact. Don't let anyone tell you different. Literally the BEST player In The league doesn't use one , no one on my team uses one and we are 3/1 win loss in the west. It's not required at all. This game is insainly fun and you should get it 100%. I bet you will like it if your in the fence. I regret not purchasing it sooner as I was on the fence.

Well folks, even though using a stock in VR might not be considered cheating... this sure as hell is:
    https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/52483/first-vr-cheater-spotted-developers-must-see/p1

I have been on the fence with Onward despite the ever growing interest and investment by this community. I have played FP Shooters for years and one thing that always "stings" is when cheats become prevalent. Whether it is outright exploits at the software or network level, or in-game exploits like spawn camping... it's hard for a game to keep these things out. Even the latest releases such as Division and Overwatch had bugs/exploits.

I can only imagine how much worse these things will turn out to be over time considering we don't just have the standard software/networking/Map issues of the past; but also the potential for exploits stemming from the VR Platform and the dependency on Tracking Sensors.

I've yet to buy Onward, and at this rate I likely won't any time soon.

@Zenbane - Why do you say that is cheating? Some people run quicker then others in real life and especially when someones trying to shoot them in the ass. I'm joking of course LOL. I still like the game and haven't seen this going on much apart from maybe once or twice.
