Question

Would a bigger television get me back into Pancake gaming?

I really like VR, but the lack of AAA games is making me feel I also need to get back into pancake gaming. I currently have a 42" television and I'm just wondering if I get a 55" or 65" television, if this will get me more immersed in a game like VR does? Since VR came along I've struggled to get back into 2D gaming and there's some really good pancake games that will never come to VR.

So do you think a lager screen would get me more immersed in a game or not?

I'm playing this atm. I'm really enjoying it and I only paid £9.49 yesterday. I see the price has gone back up today though. It's a puzzle type of game, which is something I'm not used to playing.

Hmmm, since I just got my new 4TB SSD I've started installing some pancakes - guess it's better than empty space :D

I've had Anthem lying around for many months, got it for $1.5 due to a store closing - and tried that 80GB Bioware AAA game for the first time yesterday.

Not sure what's wrong with Anthem, it's gotten very bad reviews - but if this true AAA game was in VR with this kind of graphics, only Alyx would be able to provide some competition, lol.

The game is quite straightforward, really enjoyed not having to deal with tons of interface menus - for a 2D game this looks much better than Crysis - I got totally smooth 60 fps with all settings maxed on the plasma TV, not bad.

Maybe it's not good for me to see what 2D games can do - might get sad about many current VR games, maybe better to only keep to VR games, lol.

Gonna install Rage 2 also … this weekend … unless I have to go to WW2 in Germany...

It's crapped on because when it released, graphics is about the only thing it had. Shallow gameplay, shallow item systems, shallow everything. It was unfinished. It's a bad game compared to its competitors which is Destiny 2 and Warframe.

Guess I'm a very casual gamer, lol - I finished the first 3 levels last night and did have a great time. Even using my XBox controller - but I love awesome graphics, and this game has that in spades. Also I like a simple game - not sure Stormland has much more depth than Anthem, maybe…

Its funny you said tha. I was thinking about it the other day. I'm playing starwars fallin order and omg if that was in vr I would be so happy I would probably  have a heart attack. There are a million examples like that. All the great adventure games in vr that would be possible. It would be hard to take off the headset.

Well you have to put it all into perspective. Destiny 2 cost more than 500 million to make.  I don't know what Warframe cost but it's heavily developed for. Anthem cost more than 100 million that I know of and came along with tons of promises to basically be the new Destiny and it fell way short of that. Anthem's shortcomings are more obvious when you come from one of those other games, or Destiny 1. Coming from short PCVR games I'm sure Anthem does look great lol. That's just a sad truth of the state of VR.

They did fix Anthem up a bunch since launch though but the damage was done. I think they even relaunched it or something and fixed up the combat etc.

I haven't played through Stormland yet but it's likely not complex. VR devs just don't have the budgets to make that kind of game.

Yea, that sums up why I've never been able to leave monitor gaming. There's still a big gap in game quality between the 2. Sure we get some games that blur the lines and are fantastic. No man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, Subnautica, Skyrim, Fallout etc. At this point I hope we get more of that.

My backlog for VR is massive right now, but when I get it wittled down my plan is to just play flat screen games with VorpX or something. With the clarity we now have with G2, it would be enjoyable. Could even just set it up as a big theater screen and play without the faux vr.

It will make you even more sad when you see a bunch of crappy Mobile VR games come our way because Oculus has chosen Mobile VR over PC -VR.

I think bigger television will make me more addictive in playing games. I play WoW Classic. I never got to experience Vanilla and really only became a regular player a few months before Legion dropped. Being able to play Classic has given me an equally enthralling world to play in - I prefer the build options, social networking, and gearing options of Classic as it feels more like an RPG vs choosing a pre-made character like in Retail. My friends say that they hate it and I'm torturing myself, but this is my first experience with what I consider so far to be the more satisfying/rewarding WoW.

It's like being a lonely missionary sent to a dark corner of the world, and constantly being approached by the most beautiful and exotic 20-year old women who don't care about your wedding ring. It's really hard to say no day after day, so easy to give up  :D

Bought another worthless pancake - but it was cheap, $25 o:)

Kinda feels like I need to play this, although it feels more like a chore - but I played all Doom games but this one. I'll see it as part of my Doom education B)
