Cannot Setup Oculus 1 after Factory Reset

Hello.

I'm having trouble seting up my Oculus 1 Headset for giving away to the sons of my girlfriend.

It now seems that using the mobile App for setup is a must - i factory resettet the device and tried 2 different accounts in the app on two different mobile phones (iphone) but during paring and after setting up wifi and recognising the controllers, the app won't get past th "oculus quest security hints" screen , i just see a spinning wheel  and it does not get past that.

none of the enumerations like (i translate from german text) like "check security info" "make room for a secure playground" "create a guardian area" "for kids above 13 years" "choose proper content" getting checked and inside the headset i only see "continue with setup in the mobile app".

i'm lost.  i don't know what to do further to fix this.

now i have no present for christmas for three kids.

this sucks !!!

this is the answer i got from support.   this is the most ridiculous thing i have experienced in the past years.   now oculus1 customers can feel like oculus go customers.

    Hello XXXXXX,

Welcome to Meta Store Support. My name is ........ and I'm thrilled to be your assistance.

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issues you're experiencing with your Quest1 devices.

I regret to inform you that the Quest1 has reached its end of life. As a result, software updates and new installations are no longer supported for these devices. This is why you are unable to install or update any software on your Quest1 devices.

We understand that this may be disappointing news, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We recommend exploring options for upgrading to a newer device to ensure continued access to the latest software and features.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with exploring upgrade options, please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Kind Regards,

I am suggesting to the company and all online to work on open sourcing the device operating system, firmware, etc so that people in the community can save these devices from being rendered useless due to lack of support from the current companies dev team.    I don't have specific resources right now to post here but will try to follow up as soon as I find something worthwhile.     I have made a public statement and demand for a credit exchange program to keep old devices out of the landfill and give current owners the ability to continue to enjoy the device.   The problem IS that when new hardware comes out the companies quickly pivot software support and sunset the older hardware leaving owners with little choice but to buy new one while offering no support or helpful assistance in utilizing the old device or responsibly recycling it.      I made a demand of an exhange program and open source the code so there are mulitple options of current owners of old devices.  well see what happens

    Hi matas.morkunas.oppo πŸ™‚

The workaround using an older app is still working.

Just a few days ago a user said that he was able to set up his Quest 1 using an older version of the app.

Have you tried various version numbers?

This happens because meta doesn't want you to use oculus go or oculus quest. They want you to buy the new glasses. The apps are made to NOT connect to the old glasess.

Meriphilia You can still get the Go or Quest 1 paired and working.

    Thanks Choleni. I know that.....

Unfortunately, when I get an app that works. As I try to enter my account , meta sends me a code by gmail and then another one by sms....but this never comes.
I have used more than 5 diferent mobile phones.
Two months ago was a hell to get the oculus Go work. Now I have the quest 1 and this is hilarius. I know I will make this works, I can't stand the greed of a company as wealthy as Meta trying to block the use of fully functional products simply to make more and more money.

    Thanks again
