I genuinely donโt understand what Meta was thinking with the new Quest 3 UI. It feels like one of those redesigns made for the sake of looking โnewโ rather than actually making the headset easier to use.
The biggest problem is that everything now feels less direct. Actions that used to be obvious are buried behind extra menus, icons are less clear, and the whole interface somehow feels more cluttered while also showing less useful information at once. Thatโs quite an achievement.
VR interfaces need to be simple. Youโre wearing a headset, using motion controllers or hand tracking, and you want to get into an app quickly. You shouldnโt have to hunt through floating panels trying to remember where Meta moved a setting this month.
The new layout also wastes far too much space. Quest 3 has a huge virtual display area available, yet Meta seems determined to make basic navigation feel like using a cramped mobile interface stretched into VR. Thereโs lots of empty space, oversized elements, and menus that feel designed around aesthetics rather than usability.
Another annoying part is the constant inconsistency. Some settings are in Quick Settings, some are in the main Settings app, some options appear only in certain menus, and features keep moving between updates. Muscle memory becomes almost useless because the interface never seems to stay still long enough.
The old UI wasnโt perfect, but at least it felt functional and predictable. This new one feels like Meta is experimenting on paying customers.
What I want from a Quest UI is incredibly simple: apps, settings, notifications, friends, battery status and passthrough controls, all immediately accessible and logically organised.
Stop redesigning everything every five minutes. Polish what works.
At the moment, the Quest 3 hardware feels futuristic.
The software interface feels like itโs fighting me.
Please change it back. Please bring back proper menus, not this clunky, terrible thing.
